Thanks everyone for your opinions. I will keep you all updates as to what I find out. Ya know, I've been out of card collecting for a number of years, mostly did it as a kid when cards like this weren't made. I'm 33 years old now with a son of my own that is getting excited about this sort of stuff. This is my first year back into it and It's pretty exciting to pull a card like this. It's never happened to me before and yes I still get giddy when I pull a relic card, lol. This is a whole new world to me and it's pretty cool.

And for anyone who still doesnt understand or thinks these types of SP cards are "dumb", read the above again.

These cards get people actually looking and reading their base cards. In other words, interested in something other than a GU or auto. These cards turn a worthless card (and player) into a 10 page thread on here and other boards bringing FREE press to Topps and the hobby and theres nothing wrong with that. In fact, thats what is needed.

And I TOTALLY agree with what Jaypers said about 100 pages back when he mentioned there should be cards like this in Bowman. Ive been saying that for years but Tops listens to no one...except MLB.

I wont be shocked if once word spreads, there becomes a ton of listings on ebay as people discover they have this variation in their common bins. Kind of like 1989 Fleer with Billy Ripken after everyone went through all their commons (not saying this is at all as common for sure).

But when it comes down to it, a hobby should be fun first and foremost. When its totally, 100 percent profit driven, that quickly leads to nothing. Out and looking for another investment vehicle.

I used to have the following tag on my BMB sig, I think its time I add it to my current one:
ENJOY THE BEST HOBBY IN THE WORLD!

So does anyone think any of these "Lincoln" variations will be a $100-200 for any period greater than say a week?

Maybe 2-3 weeks after people figure it out, but then it will die and be in the $5 bins at shows and shops

I did ::facepalm::

I actually thought they would fetch "crazy" prices for awhile, but I guess I was wrong. Looks like they will be a little more common than I originally thought. No worries, I never claimed to be an expert. Still, a cool card that will make more Topps Packs sell, so they accomplished what they wanted. I am just very surprised it took this long for the first one to surface. I truly thought we might be looking at a print run of less than 10 or something.

Well it looks like there are quite a few Abe cards out there now. I think it's pretty cool. I had a feeling that this whole thing was too good to be true. It's been fun to be honest. Ya know, you grow up as a kid collecting cards and reading Beckett like it was the bible and to find yourself part of something like this and to have them write a story and include you in it is a pretty cool deal. I'm glad that collectors out there are having some fun trying to find them, after all if you can't have fun collecting cards, then I think you are missing the point of it all. I'm gonna go buy a few more packs and see what I come up with. That's what Topps wants us to do, isn't it. lol

So now what do all the people who argued to death that "this will be different" and "to compare it to Jeter is nowhere near the same thing!" have to say?

Once again, history proved what most of us knew all along.
