Ichiro jr vs Shelby Miller. Go USA

Hah! Yup, Hak Ju Lee is obviously the next top 5 hitter of all time.
Ichiro aint. I could think of about 80 guys OI would put ahead of him.

List them,

hell, don't bother with 80, lets just see 50 to save time.
Off the top of my haead: Ruth, Mays, DiMaggio, Mantle, Pujols, Cabrera, Griffey Jr, Ted Williams, RRogers Hornsby, Willie McCovey, Barry Bonds. Alex Rodriguez, Sosa, Reggie Jackson, Manny Ramirez, Jimmy Foxx, Vladimir Guerrero, Rickey Henderson, Frank Robinson, Mike Schmidt, Frank Thomas, Reggie Jackson, Lou Gehrig, Carl Yaz, Mike Piazza, Al Kaline, Jeter, Larry Walker, Albert Belle, Juan Gonzalez, Ty Cobb, Stan Musial, Tris Speaker, Aaron, Sheffield, Bagwell, Gwynn, Carew, Brett, Joe Jackson, on and on and on.

Ichiro's OBP is 40 points higher than Gonzalez, and as many more home runs Gonzalez has, Ichiro has steals, on no planet is Gonzalez in Ichiro's league, and I tend to personally think Gonzalez is underrated historically. I think stuff like this can be debates very easily, but a quick look tells me hell no to Piazza, and Albert Belle as well. You underrate Ichiro's ability to steal bases and score runs. I know we're talking hitting ability only here, but you have to understand Ichiro is a different player than many of the guys you named, not a middle of the order hitter.

And those guys all score almost as many runs as him. They are much more complete hitters. For me, I would rather have a complet hitter.I would take Piazza over Ichiro any day of the week. Especially if you consider the toll that catching has on productivity at the plate. Again, just my opinion. I realize this isnt a very popular opinion but I think Ichiro is overrated.

Ok, I watched most of the game BUT the announcers are SO HORRIBLE! I mean really...they could not get in one guy with some minor league knowledge of the 3 guys in there?! Geez! They are good with MLB games but not prospects. Heck, I could do a better job in this.

I really think Thorne did not do his homework on these guys and just "winged" it. I mean c'mon...Hak-Ju Lee has been a Rays prospect this whole year and every time he was up he kept saying he was a "Cubs" prospect...Hello?! Wake up?! He has a Rays logo on his sleeve?! These guys are all idiots...it's so painful to watch them butcher leagues (Single-A Harrisburg etc.) or when Thorne said that Machado currently plays for Delamarva of Class A...HELLO?! He's with the Frederick Keys dumb-a!!

Argh....sorry for my rant...I know most fans watching the game couldn't care less but as a guy who follows prospects 365/7...it's annoying!

Yeah. It was pretty bad. They had Keith Law in the stands but they didn't let him say much. He needed to be in the booth.

Post Thanked- I knew right away that was the way it was going to be, ESPN half-@sses this game every year. Especially Thorne who I think is a good announcer just not for this game AT ALL.

I don't follow prospects that much and even I thought they did a bad job...

It also annoyed me when they "updated" us every 3 minutes about "Joey Votto played here" and "Fransisco Liriano played here"

That MIGHT be why it's called "All-Star Futures Game..."

They scored nearly as many runs as him a few times, not many. Yes Piazza was a catcher, but a TERRIBLE defender. Ichiro has one of the best arms in right I've seen.

The Riverlands.
What a good game in general. Harper went 0-4, but he was also swinging at almost everything in site, but that throw from left field was amazing. I don't care how off line it was. The difficulty in that throw Harper made it look easy. I have seen him play before IP, and this kid is a stud if he keeps his head on straight. Cosart was FILTHY! That curve that he threw to Liddi I believe was dirty ball lol. Vizcaino was pretty damn filthy in his own right and Moore made hitters look like Swiss cheese. He threw a 100 MPH fast ball and then an 87 MPH change up down and in. Mama that was dirty! Myers looked very over matched. He looked lost up there IMO. Beckham is a much better player than I saw him two years ago. He put on some muscle and he tattooed that ball into left center. Good game overall!
