Seems to me Leaf is just Razor with a different name. The majority of the releases mirror a Razor idea. Not necessarily a bad thing but I thought Leaf was going to bring a bit more originality to the table.

both are brian gray / scott jordan joints same people, some of the same ideas

but at least with Leaf products, the product is limited to about 300-500 cases.. unlike other products that have releases in the thousands..

Why is it that Razor/Leaf products sell out within the first day or so of release?

It's because there are customers like me who want it.. for the fun of ripping it in the case that we get a $13,000 card for $100..

Last year I bought 6 boxes.. I sold off two of the cards for a decent amount.. (Jeter RC - $200, and a Pujols RC $200)

Like Brian said.. vote with your wallet.. and let the rest of us vote with ours..

No offense intended Kevin, but every product sells out...and most of the people buying aren't in it for the fun of ripping, even though I know you are.

This has become all about gambling now for most box/case breakers.

I hear this, but would suggest saying it slightly differently. Many people have fun gambling.

I'd agree gambling is what is enjoyed most by far here, none of this has to do with cards per se because people aren't expecting to keep what they pull, and besides most probably couldn't afford to anyway. It has to do with the $. Not making fun of this particular product or of Leaf as the same can be said of many products, particularly prospect products, however this product ramps it up a notch I suppose.

This product would be less expensive if Leaf sold redemption numbers and/or unlocked cards through their website. I could even see Leaf offering to resell the cards on eBay for a fee to make the whole process more efficient, there's no real need for people to take delivery or hold these cards for a short period of time as they're going back to eBay anyway.

Too high-end for me (as many products are), but I can say I will enjoy seeing others break this online.

I was just curious from the production standpoint from card companies.

Since you are able to put older Topps/Upper deck products in your products, which i'm sure the other companies are cool about since they get free advertising for their cards, why hasn't Topps or Upper Deck ever inserted "buyback" cards from other companies in their own products?

I mean, why can't Panini insert "buyback" Lebron and Jordan autographs into their basketball products?

Why doesn't Topps put 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie buybacks or buyback actual Griffey Upper Deck autographed cards in their products?

Are their copyright issues involved with that?

Or does Topps just not want to advertise for a rival?

Why doesn't Upper Deck insert a 52 mantle into their packs as an additional "chase"?

Why can't Upper Deck place leaf muhammad ali autographs into their packs as buybacks?

Brouther,

Legally they can....

Actually, these companies cut up other companies' cards for cuts all the time.

thanks, that is interesting.

I'm sure they cut out the rival logos on the cards before inserting the cuts into their own cards - though that might just be one of the ugliest things they can do to a card on the market. That, and putting sticker autos on manufactured patches.

Andy,

Honestly, you've already met your quote of 3 snide remarks per thread.. You have just reached the trolling zone...just kidding... But, we all heard ya the first time....

But seriously, why should the other companies make a product that meets demand and provides value?
Like lemmings, consumers continue to buy junk products that cost 20.00 to make, retail for 80.00 and return 15.00 on the investment of your hard earned money....

Right now, consumers are starving for these "repack" type products...why? The average product (basically, everything except Topps baseball and Leaf - shameless plug ) is pathetic, stale, overpriced, overproduced or some combination of these.

Hopefully, they recognize their shortcomings and the market will no longer need/want repack products like this, however today they are clearly desired in this environment.

The only advice I have is instead of inserting one PSA 4 Mantle, buy two PSA 2 Mantles instead. It would add another marquee hit to the product at no additional cost
