Any preview of Clemson players? I would assume DeAndre McDaniel and Da'Quan Bowers, perhaps Marcus Gilchrist too? Jamie Harper?

I am curious to see how they look in person. Will they be on card or sticker?

Definitely uncalled for and I assume appropriate action will be taken.

Hey crybaby, stop playing FCB police.

Wild Card held the first chromium patent, I believe. Classic first produced chrome cards in 1993 Four Sport. Topps first produced them with that 45 card 1992 Finest test set

I will start reacting in kind. I'm smart enough to know that the mods get angry at anyone not in their circle-jerk club and will ban me for the same offence. So rather than taking the high-road, I'm completely fine with taking the low road.

Not a bad looking card, what's the production run? And what are these 48 card cases going to be going for?

Nice work... It was wildcard...

The fact is, no card company ever held the patent.. a manufacturer did...

There are now three printers that can do this, and when you see our product, youll see the difference between this and other offerings in the market... BG

I would expect to se einternet retailers in the $80's per box...

Production run is not announced, but I can say its over 300 cases (3600 boxes) and under 600 cases (7200 boxes).
For reference, most draft products in past have been about 20,000-40,000 boxes we believe.

What do you mean? I think Kodak held the patent. It might have been called Kodachrome...IIRC

The US Patent is either #4933218, #5082703, or #5106126.

I'm excited to see the results and I certainly hope you can understand why people would question your creativity after releasing a set that was slated to be 100% other manufacturers cards. I think you're improperly associating uncreative with bad. You're giving collectors what they want. The products will sell and did sell. They're not bad products, and who knows, if the NFLPA/NBAPA decertify their unions, you could go crazy. Not only would the players be in a free for all, the anti-trust lawsuits brought against the NFL would open the door for you.

I'm not shitting down your throat and calling it gravy, I'm simply saying that you've chosen content over innovation and you may have a problem with the "super" idea. I wish you all the luck in the world and the environment looks to be ripe for a breakthrough. I -- my opinion here -- just think that you're better off challenging the big-boys on innovation than on content. Content will be judged base on long-term value which might be a problem. Innovation on the other hand, will sell because they're cool, not (as much) because of long-term value.

I don't know if people will associate Razor Metal with Leaf, we'll see.

On the topic of companies using chromium technology, a company named Comic Images used it in 1999 (maybe other years, not sure).

All these technologies are not the same. They are not actually "chromium"...
Rest assure, the printers (not the manufacturers) hold these patents...
We at Leaf are pleased to have a long term agreement to be able to bring this technology to you.

While I dont agree with your challenge of our creativity, I think our 2nd and final Draft set for the year will adress that directly.

P.s.- On a side note, we will be releasing at least one release this year which is driven by a mixture of Baseball items obtained on open market and Leaf BB cuts combined into one product.
Repack products can be creative if they capture the imagination of the collector/consumer. Go try to find Rookie Retro today. They have been almost completely gobbled up by consumers.

Loving those Stanzi autos. Pretty cards, someone with more knowledge than me might correct this but it's going up against Press Pass, Sage and Prestige right? The greatest hits of awful looking cards. Especially that trash that PP will be throwing out. Can't wait! Looks quality.

They better look great and have people fall in love with the cards when they see them in person.......or else I don't see this product working out well at all.

I agree with you regarding the other initial products (Sage, Press Pass, Prestige) but all those products have name recognition.
I can't help but think 4 cards for $80 or whatever (even though their hits) is going to be a tough sell for a set with no track record and no licensing.
From what I can gather from this thread it also seems Metal = Chrome....so the name also seems to be an odd choice (not that you can copy the Chrome name, but Metal also carries preconceived notions based on "Metal" products of the past).

Maybe I'll be wrong and the design will be enough to fuel the secondary market which would make this a hit.......just from being in/analyzing this hobby for some time now - the circumstances and configuration to me indicate it could be an up-hill battle.
I have nothing against the set - personally I think they look like they could be great looking cards and as others noted - having choices is always a good thing. My statements above are simply based on what I'd reason is the most likely scenario for this product.

Don't forget, this product is dropping before any other product of the 2011 Draft Class, so there will be a demand for these out of the gate

I understand much of what you suggest. A few things to note:

1> The production on these products is miniscule compared to the other companies. No Draft company has ever made a truly limited draft set.
2> These are Metal autographs (very similar to what most like to call chrome). What would a Topps box with 4 autographs per box cost on their similar technology?
3> The cards do look that great. You will be shocked.
4> I see our newness to market as a positive. Press pass and SAGE items have ended up below cost with weeks for the last umpteenth # of years... There IS NO comparison between this product and the products from these companies. They are VERY different. Even Panini and Topps products are goping to be Shoulder pads and up shots. LEAF METAL may be your only draft choice where you get to see players full body shots, outisde of CLC licensed Upper Deck.

The above is obviously just my opinion. I just long for the day that when people ask for more choices, that they actually allow the products to come out before making preconceived notions (which in this case will be proven unjustified). BG
