Welcome, FloodMap20 the latest addition to the Collectors Universe forum.

That's awesome

Jeff, make sure you ask 15 times a day if anyone has MANRAM cards
like certain threads here, shenanigans like what you're suggesting aren't really seen or welcome in the CU Heritage threads. As has been said several times before, it's one of the most hardcore group of collectors to be found, and we've been blessed to not have any knuckleheads crashing the party. There certainly is a time and place for silliness, but it won't fly in that particular thread. Jeff's been a valuable part of that group for quite some time, and quite honestly he's been missed.

Eric, keep in mind that it isn't just the CU Heritage guys that think that - base sets on eBay have been sold that way at least since I first got into Heritage in 2004, probably long before that. It's really the only way the big rippers can maximize their profits with all those extra base cards - with so many extra base cards printed, it really makes the most sense to market them that way. Makes perfect sense to me, at least.

edit: also keep in mind that no true Heritage collector on CU thinks their set is complete without the SPs. Almost all of the big rippers there go after the complete set including SPs and the base insert sets: Then & Now, New Age Performer and Flashbacks. After SSPs appeared in 2008, a few of them (and I used to be one) weren't able to stop there and couldn't call the set done with those as well.

edit #2: speaking of SSPs, another one has been discovered by Magellan on CU - it involves #478 David Wright. His so-called base card has him listed as a New York Met. The SSP has him listed with the Cin. Reds, which mirrors Don Zimmer's 1962 card - Zim was listed as a Red in that set as well.

i understand all that, but calling the base set a "whole set" without the SPs is like saying heres a '67 Topps Set...
Buyer: "where is the Seaver Rookie?"
Seller: "Thats a SP, its not part of 'the set'"

I completely agree with you. I don't think anyone there was actually saying the set was complete without SPs, although I would have to read back through to verify that. If someone actually thinks that, then they need to be edumacated. ;)

Sounds like K.O. has been buying up some of big ssp for big prices. Schmidtfan has he always been a big heritage collector.

Also, for a regular card in heritage. How many versions are out there to complete rainbow and is anybody getting close on some.

Base
Target Black

Green Tint
Red Tint (Target)
Blue Tint (Walmart)

Chrome #/1962
Green Ref
Ref #/562
Black Ref #/62

Thats what a player will have if he has a tint and a chrome card.

I don't think that there is a "normal" card in heritage variation wise. lol

So a regular base card is now looking to have 10 or so version. Also the blank backs 1/1 are now getting listed on Topps vault ebay account. Some of those will go for big money to player collectors.

Wow, you're switching words around. That's exactly the opposite of what I said.

Those prices are low because he's not including SPs.

We call a base set here a set without SPs.

A master set is a base set plus SPs and inserts (NA, FB, TN, BBFB).

You asked over there if the base set includes SPs, and I said no. The base set does not include SPs. The Master set includes the base set plus SPs and the insert sets. I've collected every Heritage set since 2001, always with the SPs to complete a master set. I would never call a base set a "whole set" without the SPs.

You're correct. Nobody said that.

I was confused about this for awhile, but I think its been pointed out that the green, blue and red tints only apply for cards 110-196 (so 87 cards). And the black bordered cards, I believe, only mirror the chrome cards (so 100 cards).

1962 was a checklist with two different sets of numbers on the back
2011 is the San Diego Padres team card. Have a look at the back to see if there's any funny business going on. However, the checklists were printed separately again, which brings to mind 2005(?), which had variations of every checklist.

I just noticed that Shin-Soo Choo and Fausto Carmona are listed on the back of this card as the Padres "Team Leaders." Not sure if this is an honest mistake (UER), or another gimmick as I only have one in-hand.
