2011 Topps Ser 2 Glove Leather Nameplates Fisk 1/1

Pulled from the shop ; this is the only one that says "Pudge" on it.

Compared to what? Its exactly the same as any card without GU.

Total crap that Topps gets away with calling the nameplates "relics." I have no interest in mine.

Sweet card, congrats! How does an awesome card like that get two negative comments??? Its what Topps does. It is a unique insert, not a game worn piece... thats pretty obvious. Unbelievable that some people have to find the negative side of everything.

It's a good pull to be sure, but I personally take issue with Topps calling these pieces "relics." The leather is distinct from the other relics because it is manufactured, and I think it is deceptive to claim that a jumbo box has one auto and two relics when one of those relics is a plain cut of leather with a name stitched on. Cheap move. Why not also cut up replica jerseys and glue those on to cards too?

Like I said, it's a good pull, and a pretty cool baseball card all things considered, but it's unfair for Topps to call it a "relic." Different odds aside, the unnumbered Leather Nameplate cards are no different than the Before There Was Topps cards. They are simply inserts.

soulglo said it much better than I could have... Unbelievable that some people resort to hyperbole when people give their opinion on a card. I can see how my previous post can be construed as nothing but negativity, but I would like to clarify that I never intended to say that this pull sucked. I simply stated that the difference between this 1/1 and the other manufactured leather cards was a little less than overwhelming. Change what is written on the leather and create a 1/1 "relic?" In my eyes that is a variant not worthy of the once heralded one of a kind status, but I also am a dinosaur who remembers when 1/1 cards were overwhelming pulls and amazing looking cards, distinctive from their base counterparts. To each his own though. Although I wasn't blown away by the card, I can understand why others would be.
