2011 #mlbdraft: $227,939,050 on bonuses, ($235,989,050 w/big lg salaries). Old records: $195,782,830 bonuses ($201,832,830 total) in 2010.

Pirates set a new draft spending record - $17,005,700.

Old mark - $11,927,200 by last year's Nats.

I am wondering when the Yankees will start just blowing up the draft and making it harder for the Pirates to do what they do. Also I think the hard cap for draft picks may be on its way soon.

The unions don't seem to mind setting spending limits on draft picks as long as that money is redistributed to the veterans. I can see teams like the Yankees getting upset about how the slotting system is being abused and start driving up prices.

Seriously, all this premium talent is going to make for one kick ass set.

It will be interesting to see which players get pushed back to 2012. I can't see Cole getting pushed back since he had so many autos already in Topps products but they did push Harper from last year to this year.

I am excited about a Bell auto for sure!
