I would kinda like this to be made into a cut, but the sig is actually bigger than a regular card size (the long top of the "T" messes it up. The deep "E" at the end doesn't help, either.) Maybe a special oversize card? I got it in 2002 at his booth at the Milwaukee Fanfest. Just happened to be among the lucky ones to be there when he was signing for a short period of time.

Given his significance in baseball lore--the McGwire 70 ball (and others) and jump-starting the Sports Action figure scene as SLU's were dying off, McFarlane has a place in sport collectibles lore.

Were the winners ever announced? Think I'm going to go after a Don Larsen and David Wells dual cut since they both went to my high school (Point Loma High in San Diego). Just picked up a Larsen auto although I'm bummed I didn't read the directions better, it's PSA authenticated just not with the sticker. I'm still looking for a good David Wells auto to use.

Brian, what would it cost to re-authenticate something already authenticated by PSA but without the sticker?

Thanks.

Gwynn was on the cover of Padres Magazine 50 home games a year, for 20 years, and the one time , THE ONE TIME you happen to be on the fence when he decides to sign, you have this in your hand... ::facepalm::

I would LOVE to have my Jeff Cohen signed goonies cover made into a cut. (the guy who played Chunk)
I have certified autos of all the other goonies, but he doesn't have any available.

I'll post pics later, but I have signed index cards of Joe Nuxhall and Smoky Burgess for my Reds collection that would make a nice dual cut. They are both members of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, they were battery mates, and they were both All-Stars in 1955. Both autos are PSA authenticated. One has the sticker, the other just had a bulk letter.

I'm going to start a custom cut collection for members of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and this would be a great way to kick it off.

Thank you for the contest BG!

As a huge fan of Omar Vizquel, I've always dreamed of a card that somehow featured him with Chico Carrasquel. Not only was Carrasquel the first of a long line of excellent Venezuelan shortstops, but he also inspired other Venezuelans and even other Latin Americans to shoot for the big leagues. There have only been a couple auto cards of Carrasquel made, but no memorabilia cards. He's still revered by many of today's Venezuelan players and is often credited as having been one of their heroes as little leaguers. Unfortunately he died in 2005 but his autos are not incredibly difficult to come by. I think a dual auto card of these Venezuelan heroes would be a really nice way to recognize and tie together the past and present.

I want to change my submission...

I would love to get this made into a cut.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SIGNED-AUTOGRAP ... 3357a4367f

He has no pack issued 1/1s that I know of, and only one certified autograph card. This is his old signature.

He knew my grandparents when they were younger (I am told). The first time I met him, I asked him about that and he said he remembered them. He is one of the nicest ballplayers I ever met and I have put together a nice collection of his stuff.

I also want to say THANK YOU for making this cut:

I have a random urge to submit this, although plain-leaf paper would probably be a pretty poor-looking cut. Obtained by my aunt years ago when Stephen King stopped by a local restaurant she worked at (Roy's BBQ in Russellville, KY).

According to a few blogs I've found King is a fan of Roy's (good BBQ). My aunt gave this to me when she discovered I read Stephen King; she passed on December 23, 2003, just before Christmas.

Having grown up with brothers who were big fans of him, I have a John Denver signed postcard that would be great to have a card made out of and encased. Would need it authenticated. I will scan and post it later.

Edit: Here is the scan. Unfortunately its bigger than I remember and wouldn't fit on a card size, but I still might authenticate it.

If this is still open/going, here are the scans I mentioned

Joe Nuxhall

Smoky Burgess
SmokyBurgess.jpg

Recap: Both played for the Reds. They were battery mates and both made the NL All-Star team in 1955. Also, they are both members of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. Nuxhall was inducted in 1968 and Burgess in 1975.

Edit- Both are PSA certified. I have the cert for the Burgess, but the Nuxhall I bought from someone who had a bulk letter. I do not have a copy of the letter.

I'm thinking Jackie Robinson and MLK dual... Already have the Jackie signed letter, now wondering how much a authentic MLK auto would cost?

I'd really like to have a cut of the first Mexican baseball player in MLB. In general there aren't many baseball cards from baseball players compared to Domicans or Venezuelans, and way less from older times. Recently Bobby Avila and Aurelio Rodriguez got cuts in SP Legendary Cuts, but this Red Sox outfielder from the 30s has been forgotten by the card companies:

Melo Almada. His last card is from 1992 (Conlon)

Got the Don Larsen in the mail today, can't wait for the Wells. Quick question for all you guys. Auction said PSA/DNA authentic through a large lot. Is the number on the cover the quick opinion code? This saves on the authentication fee, right?

I don't think so, it's probably either an internal stock code from the seller, or possibly some type of reference code from the photographer or something similar. The large lot authentications have nothing to do with the eBay quick opinion option.

Realistically, I'd rather have the signed photo than have it cut up for a cut signature card, especially since Larsen signatures on cards are quite plentiful and not expensive. You would likely pay 3 - 4 times the cost to get it done that you would buying an regular signed card.
