This is an obvious ploy to get people to buy the product blindly so that UD can get paid for it, then leave the folks that bought it with their pricks in their hands.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. In a way without releasing a checklist, more in depth product info, and real/sample pictures, they are essentially purposely misleading customers into buying product. It is a little sketchy to leave all the staples of every product release info off the table and try to tease people into buying a bum product. I was intrigued from the get go, but the fact that they are being somewhat shady with info is reason for me to stay away.

Just got a reply from Chris Carlin.

"We will not be releasing any information or images on the 2012 SP Signature
Edition Baseball, but rather letting the product speak for itself when it
releases on May 1."

Now THAT'S what I call moxie.

That statement show a lot of testicular fortitude .............. or stupidity ............. or both

A checklist is not available because you do not have those players under contract anymore, and those stickers are what's going to help you pay them for the work they already performed. But since you can release the names we are going to assume every one is signed by an UD Employee.

Upper Deck fast-tracks Signature Edition baseball

By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor

The next Upper Deck baseball set is coming soon — as in next week.

This year’s SP Signature Edition will arrive on May 1 with what the company is touting as “the best lineup of living baseball players ever offered in one product.”

Each three-card pack will carry a suggested retail price of $255 with three autographed cards inside — two single-signed cards and one card with multiple sigs. In some cases, the company said, there will be as many as eight signatures per card.

Of course, without a league license or players association deals for baseball, the cards are likely to be without photos or logos — and no card images have been released in advance of this fast-tracked product, which will include six boxes per case. (Want a checklist or OPG for past Signature Edition sets? Click here.)

Upper Deck’s preview information stated that there will be 50 different Hall of Famers included in this one as well as multi-signed cards for World Champions (1946-now), Hall of Famer combos from the Classes of 1972, 2007 and 1991 (get out your history books to figure out those), cards for members of the 3,000-hit club, 500-home run club and more.

Single-signed cards will include retired players, active players prospects and more, while there also will be manufactured patch autographed cards in the mix, too, with players grouped by team, Hall of Fame enshrinement, nationality and more.

Found this as well:

DISTRIBUTOR PRICE (INCLUDES FREIGHT): $1,080.00/Case $540.00/Shipper $180.00/Display Box $60.00/Pack
DIRECT PRICE (INCLUDES FREIGHT): $1,122.30/Case

If that is correct info why the hell is DA listing a 3 card pack for $255? They have to be wrong. I called and a lady said the $255 price is for a 3 card pack and 3 pack bid is $745. That just can't be right.

So $85 per card, and one of your hits could be a prospect?

I've always been a proponent of UD getting their licenses back, but wow.

From past experiences Chris is a decent guy to deal with but he really needs to reach for a lifeboat and try to avoid going down with the Titanic.
