2013 Topps Tribute WBC Team Japan

When I saw that Japan was going to be heavily represented in this release I decided to go all the base, patch and auto cards. The only card I'm missing is the Darvish auto which is numbered to 20. I saw 3 copies go on eBay for $225 BIN, $250 auction and $280 auction. A little too pricey for my budget. Hopefully the next copy to surface won't be that expensive. Anyway without further ado here is the base set:

Interestingly there are no outfielders and 2 shortstops. Every picture is an action shot except Sugiuchi. Would have been cool if the managers and coaches had cards too. Or maybe a team checklist card with all the players and coaches on it.

The cards are beautiful in hand. Too bad the autos are stickers. It was fun chashing all the cards. Needless to say last month was way above my normal card budget. Need to save some money this month. Thank god it's 3 years until the next tournament.

Yea seriously. He only played 24 games for the South Siders.

Love it! I'm working on the patch set (base silver only) but I've only snagged one Japan patch so far. Great cards!

Finally snagged the Darvish. After no sightings for a while 2 popped up at once. Must have been the Blowout black Friday sale. It completes my team Japan set.

Darvish and Aoki are awesome! Sad I won't be watching Nori next season. Ironically I recently picked up an '08 Bowman Chrome Fukudome Orange Ref Japan variation /25. Looks good with my WBC cards
