Welcome to the Legends of the Fall MLB Playoff Contest!
Please take a moment to read this post to acquaint yourself with the game.
OVERVIEW
15 teams will battle it out to earn the most points throughout the playoffs.
Each team is comprised of 5 of the top 50 players this postseason, as determined by MLB.com.
Here is the list.
Your players are determined by the numbers you chose and their corresponding number in that list.
PLUS, you will also have a bonus 6th player. That player is determined by the average of the five numbers you have selected.
If you chose any number higher than 50, simply continue back at number 1 until you get to that number.
Example: 68 = 18
(50 + 18 = 68)
THE FIELD
SCORING
Each player earns points based on their daily performance, as calculated by ESPN Game Score.
Hitter = Daily Game Score
Pitcher = 3x Daily Game Score
Here are the links for each:
HITTERS
PITCHERS
As you can see, you can go to any date in the past, so catching up is very easy if you miss a day or three.
Game Score Notes:
Only the top hitter Game Scores are shown, so if your player does not appear on the list for that day, they earn zero points. However, they will likely be playing regularly, so each game provides a new chance for hitters to earn points.
On the other hand, all starting pitcher Game Scores are shown each day, so you are guaranteed some points if your starter pitched that day. However, they will likely only have a chance to earn points every 4th game or so. That’s why they carry an increased multiplier.
If your bonus number is the same as one of your 5 regular numbers, your scoring is doubled for that player (2x for hitters, 6x for starting pitchers)
WILD CARD
There are 3 wild card numbers in the game: 7, 11, 46
These represent the three relievers on the list. If you have any of these players, you may choose one number higher/lower OR a flat 250 points for the entire playoffs.
So,
If you have 7, you can choose 6 or 8, or 250 points
If you have 11, you can choose 10 or 12, or 250 points
If you have 46, you can choose 45 or 47, or 250 points
If you do not make a choice before Noon Wednesday Oct 6th, you will automatically receive the 250 point option.
You are encouraged to keep track of your own score, but I will provide regular updates in this thread.
PRIZE
The team with the highest overall score is the champion.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be the contestant who entered first.
The champion will have their choice of either a Paypal gift or a card featuring one of the players on your team.
The Paypal gift is decent, but will be significantly more modest than the card.
SUPER PRIZE
If the winning team includes the 2021 World Series MVP among their 8 players, they will win the following card of a former World Series MVP plus the Paypal gift.

That should cover everything, but as always, just ask if any questions come up.
Good luck to all and enjoy the playoffs!
