Albaro “Yoel” Campusano, Geraldo Rodriguez and Amadeo Zazueta, all with Class-A Myrtle Beach of the Carolina League, were suspended after each tested positive for an amphetamine.
Amphetamines are classified by baseball as a banned, performance-enhancing substances.
The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced the immediate suspensions Friday and said the players violated the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
“We are disappointed with the choices these young players have made,” Braves general manager Frank Wren said in a text message. “We fully support the Commissioner’s program and we will continue to educate our players on the harmful effects of PEDs.”
None of the three players are considered to be major prospects. Campusano, a second baseman, had batted .192 with three homers, 11 RBIs and a .293 on-base percentage in 36 games this season.
