3 day, 5 day, 7 day auctions... Does it really matter anymore?

Do you think the majority of people are catching all auctions these days (outside of the new dumb no wildcard search), where it makes no difference if you list at 3, 5, or 7 days?

I think it matters depending on what's being sold...
1 day auctions- good for items that are first to eBay, but likely will have several more listed soon decreasing the overall value (supply demand)
3 day auctions- same as above with a little more leeway and likelihood that a couple more days will increase the amount of bidders seeing the auction
5 day auctions- I use these for items I list on Monday or Tuesday so they will end on the weekend.
7 day and 10 day- for BIN with high prices that I plan to re-list at .99 once ended or for 1 of a kind items that increased viewers will push the price of the auction up.

so yeah, it matters.

Unless it's a really hot item or you need money fast, I think it's best to go 7 days on most things. You might get about the same amount for a 3-, 5-, or 7-day auction of highly searched players like Griffey, Pujols, etc., but I think most auctions benefit from the increased viewership of a 7-day auction. I seem to get more people hitting my BIN auctions or making offers on the weekend, so at the very least an auction should cover the weekend searches, regardless of how many days it lasts for.

I would never do a 1 or 3 day auction unless it was a card where a ton of them are constantly listed, or a super hot or new item. I only search most of the players I bid on once a week (I'm a collector, not a prospector/flipper). If I search for Barry Zito stuff every Tuesday, and you list 5-day on Wednesday, you totally missed the opportunity to get my bid.

I search for my players and prospects on a nightly, though more likely multiple times a day when I'm bored. I haven't experimented with .99 and ride auctions in a long time, but I would still say 7 days is best unless it's some special event like a no hitter, walk off HR, etc. But even then, BIN/BO or high starting bid auction seems to be the best bet
