I posted this to superfractor.com, but also wanted to share it here. There had been a lot of questions of why would you buy Razor letterman when it would be a lot of repeats from Razor Signature Edition. Well JP went through and made a list of the players that are in the 2008 Letterman Edition that are not in 2008 Draft Signature. It’s a list of 33 players in a 100 player set. So for anyone that isn’t a math wiz, it’s a 33% chance of getting a player that is only in this set so far.

Keep in mind though, what Brian posted was considered to be a preliminary checklist. Meaning, there could be even more Letterman exclusives in the product before release.

I know Razor likes to have cut sigs of famous stars and such but why include Will Smith in a baseball product??? Just kidding

Nice to see Odorizzi in the set.

Zach Collier will be a minimum $100 8-)

Beauty of Paypal...no wait
Also, well done with combined shipping
I hate when some make you pull teeth to see if the invoice can be adjusted to include combined shipping

Re: 33% of Razor Letterman players not in Signature

Am I missing something here because I really don't see the point. Even if the checklist was the exact same as Razor Signature, they are both 2008 products, thus they are both first year cards. It's not like Letterman is a second year recycled version of Signature aka 2008 Bowman w/ Chrome vs. 2007 Bowman Draft.

edit: wow, totally spelled "hear" incorrectly in the wrong context. Surprised the forum ninjas didn't attack.

I think the point is when people are paying as much as Letterman costs, they want to see a few new names not the same players as they got in the other product. It's just about variety.

I hate when you post because I just look at your signature for at least 5 minutes afterwards.
But yeah, I agree.
I'd rather have the Razor Signature card than Lettermen, I just don't see what the craze is about having a letter on a card. It's ugly.

Eh, it's probably my mistake not JP, I tried to edit the list of names down to the names he gave me.

Nice to see Odorizzi in the set.

Zach Collier will be a minimum $100 8-)

Why? He's less than $20 in Threads.

1) He is an insert in Threads, not a base card.
2) His Threads is serial #d to 280, whereas his Letterman's 'base' card will be #d to 50 (parallels to 20, 5 and 1, making 76 total).

While I don't think his Letterman base card will be a $100 card, it will almost certainly fetch more than his Threads insert.

No, I didn't have Weinhardt on my list.

Are you sure about those #s, JP? I was under the understanding -- and I could be wrong -- that each letter in the player's name would be #ed to 50. Are you saying there'll be 6 or 7 each of the C O L L I E R s?

As for it being an insert vs. a base card-- I think the hobby will always think of Lettermen as an "insert" but will look at with high value if the player does well.

I do know that Threads' print run of 280 for Collier consisted of the TOTAL amount of letters in his last name, not the individual letters. I'm fairly certain Brian intends to do the same, but I just shot him an email to make sure.

I believe it is per letter there is 50. He said each letter is a seperate card and will have different pictures and numbers on the live ustream we did for The Card Podcast.

Can't be 50 cards per player. That would mean Razor is only making 100 or so cases of this product.
