394 Notifications?!

I signed on this morning and see that I have 394 notifications, 392 of which are PM's. These are PM's dating back to 2009. Why are they all of a sudden showing up as unread and notifying me?

Weird! I see you have returned recently over the last couple months. Is this by chance the first time you signed in at a physical computer? If so that might explain it as the notifications might have been a new addition to the site prior to you signing back in.
