The hottest players in the majors for the last 7 days:

1. Ian Stewart – 11 hits 10R 4HR 10RBI 1SB .323 – Stewart has been as important as any player in the Rockies' unexpected winning streak. A lock for 20 home runs by the end of the year? Could he hit 30?

2. David Wright – 15 hits 5R 1HR 4RBI 4SB .652 – Wright’s lone homer was his first in 100 at bats, the second longest drought of his career. Despite low RBI numbers for the week, I can't keep out a guy who went 15 for 23 with more walks than strike outs.

3. Justin Verlander – 17IP 16K 0.53ERA 0.88WHIP – Verlander needed 121 pitches in his complete game, six hit, nine strikeout, one walk performance against the White Sox. He’s struck out 50 in his last 42.1 innings pitched and is on the forefront of early Cy Young candidates.

4. Andre Ethier – 9 hits 5R 4HR 7RBI .429 – After a miserable May, Ethier is showing he’s just as good a hitter without Manny Ramirez in the lineup. He recorded his sixth career multi home run game against Padre’s starter Chris Young. He's also in the middle of a nine game hit streak.

5. Adam Lind – 12 hits 7R 4HR 7RBI .426 – Lind homered in consecutive games for the third time this season. He has already matched his career high with 12 home runs and doesn't show signs of slowing.

6. Javier Vazquez - 14IP 19K 1.93ERA - If he picked up at least a win, he might be top 3. Unfortunately, Vazquez suffered a no decision and a loss despite issuing zero walks to go with 19 K's in his two starts this week.

7. Ben Zobrist - 9 hits 2HR 3RBI .450 - Zobrist is performing so well since gaining regular playing time that with only 10 more AB's his .676 slugging percentage would put him second in the majors to Raul Ibanez (.677).

8. Ryan Braun - 8 hits 3HR 8RBI 1SB .333 - Braun's week was fueled by a two home run performance against the Braves.

Honorable Mention
Scott Baker – 15IP 18K 3.00ERA – After shutting out the A’s for eight innings, Baker might have been left in the game an inning too long, allowing the first three runners to reach base. He was pulled with the bases loaded and the A’s rallied to score five runs before Joe Nathan closed the door.

Did I leave anyone out? Thoughts?

Ibanez's week (6 hits 5R 2HR 5RBI .222) doesn't stack up to any other hitters on the list. If any Philly is close it'd be Utley but he's a way off too.

Rowand: 12 hits 3R 0HR 3RBI 1SB .414. He sure racked up the hits like a leadoff man but his teammates had trouble knocking him home. The Giants will be hard pressed to get anyone besides a pitcher on the Sheet.
