What I like about this hobby is just when you think you've seen everything something comes along that makes you scratch your head. This card walked in to the shop yesterday and, despite all my efforts to find info on it, I've come up empty. It was in a 1-screw, sealed with a silver holographic sticker that said nothing on it but "VOID". I looked it up in the Beckett almanac, I googled it & searched far & wide online, but nothing turned up other than an unanswered question "What is the value of a 1994 Ted Williams Card Co Cy Young Autograph?". So I turn to you, 90's card gurus, for help. Anyone know anything about this?

Hmmm that's crazy. Not sure what it is but am interested as well. I'm sure someone here will know exactly what it is.

It's hand numbered out of /17?

Never heard of that. Maybe a custom? Looks like two regular issue cards with a trap cut out of one and then glued onto the front of the other with the auto placed in between. If the auto is real, it has great value regardless.

Congrats! That card came from "leaf bygone collection" featuring cuts from past legends. You now are a proud owner of a leaf card!! :p

Just kidding, it's either custom or fake. Never issued in packs.

My guess is that it's some aftermarket card (take a reprint Young signature, hand # it, and try to get some $ on eBay kind of aftermarket card).

I remember seeing tons of those things (all kinds of players) listed on eBay around 2003-04. I do not, however, remember if they were trying to be passed off as genuine or if the guy who was making them described them as "art".

Ted Williams issued a baseball card set in 1993, and 1994 under the Ted Williams co. name. The 1993 set features a collection of Hall of Famers, All-Stars, players from the ***** Leagues, great hitters and current stars that Ted Williams himself helped select

Although its aftermarket , it looks nice on that card regardless. Now is it legit, not sure, but it looks clean

It's a custom card. There are a couple issues with it:
a) The bottom edge of the cut out is not straight. Someone had a shaky hand cutting it. A professional company would have used a rectangle diecut stamp.
b) It's 2 cards stuck together. You can really tell by looking at the back. Along the right edge you can see the color of the other card. If I remember correctly, the Ted Williams logo on the front is embossed out of the card. If the back of the card has the indention, then it's for sure 2 cards glued together.
c) Back in 93-94 cut sigs were not prevalent. Heck, I don't think any company were doing cut sigs then, let alone a new card company's first issue.

The card is worth the value of the Cy Young signature. But I have no idea if it's authentic.

That's actually a great idea for me. I have some Dodgers cut signatures that I had no idea how to display. I am going to try the card sandwich idea for my personal collection. Thanks!

These were custom made cards featuring reproduced signatures. The guy that was peddling them took the Cap Anson signature I had on my website from the autographed book I had and used it to make some cards like this.
