When the hell did they start selling for nearly a grand? I bought one a few years ago for around $275. They were stagnant for years at that price.

Not complaining, since I still have it...I was just wondering what happened to make it more than triple in price

I think that Jeter's great season and leading the Majors in hits is making people realize that he could have a legitimate shot at going for Rose's hit record.
That, and he keeps knocking legends off the all-time hits chart.
It makes more sense for Jeter's rookie to skyrocket in price than some rookie who hits a home run in his first game and may never be a star.

Some people actually still believe a nine on that card is harder to get with psa.

The numbers would actually support that belief. PSA: 450 of 10,138 have graded 9 or better. BGS: 1,307 of 10,033 have graded 9 or better.

I bought a huge collection this past spring that had three beautiful factory-sealed boxes of 1993 SP. I was halfway tempted to crack them but sold them to BBCExchange for $340/each. No regrets.

The two modern baseball cards that PSA is REAL strict on are the Rickey RC and the Jeter SP RC

Add to those the '86 Fleer MJ...just try crossing a BGS 9 to a PSA 9. PSA flat out refuses cross them.

Simple crack the jordan out of the bgs 9 and sub to psa for a psa 9. happens everyday both ways.

A handful of years ago I debated about a PSA 9 1989 Griffey RC or the PSA 9 Jeter SP RC, both were about the same price...

I obviously chose wrong.

Do you mean a PSA 10 Griffey vs a PSA 9 Jeter? i cannot recall a time when the Jeter PSA 9 was below $250 and Griffey PSA 9's have been $40-$50 for some time

You are either not recalling correctly, or not going back far enough..
