hype wise they are on the same level. pitch and stuff wise strasburg is far superior. if i remember right prior had 1+ pitch and 2 average pitches. strasburg has 3++ pitches (both fastballs, curve) and one + pitch (changeup).

i thought strasburg was more along the lines of scherzer heavy fastball good breaking ball and a working change who would need to pitch to avoid contact. comparing stuff in the majors its clear i was way way off base... if strasburgs stuff remains constant with his minor league stuff and after the 3rd inning last night. he wont need to pitch to avoid contact because there will only be a few guys who can make contact... without swinging a viking boat oar!

You people need to look up words before using them. Even if he paralleled Mark Prior from birth to arm-blowout it wouldn't be in any way IRONIC.

There is nothing wrong with this use of "ironic".

The big difference between Strasburg and Prior is that Prior played for the Cubs.

Strasburg had an amazing mlb debut. His stuff is nasty. But what the hell guys, he is so young and inexperienced. Once he gets knocked up a bit in the MLB will be able to recover fast. LEts not throw him multiple cy young and mvp awards just yet....

I mean I love the guy, he is very exciting to watch and HOPEFULLY WILL BE everything we expect him to be.
