So, I went to the MMA Expo in NYC this past Saturday. They clearly didn't do a great job advertising the event, since they couldn't even fill up half a room in the Javitz center, but it was still interesting for a rainy day. I got to meet a few MMA stars, but no one too crazy. Wanderlei was there signing autographs, but the line was insane and I didn't feel like waiting.

Me w/ Marcelo Garcia (Truly an honor to meet such an incredible BJJ champion)

Me w/ Leonard Garcia (One really down to earth, cool dude. Spoke for about 20 mins)

Me w/ Kit Cope (One crazy guy, but pretty nice)

The names I met that I didn't get a picture with were....Pete Sell, Rich Clementi, Howard Davis Jr., Fabio Gurgel, Lucas Lepri, and Scott Jorgensen.

Marcelo Garcia is definately a badass!! congrats, man!!

I was so pumped to meet him. I have been studying X-guard for about 2-months, and he is just amazing to watch.

Apparently, he just opened his NYC gym and is teaching there full-time. I might go there 1-2 times per week to work with him.

Good stuff, man. I think anyone would be pumped if they got the chance to meet Marcelo AND had the oppurtunity to train at his gym.

Do you know who his other instructors will be?

He said he moved to NYC now and until he can't handle it, he will be teaching all classes. So, it is just him until further notice. i am sure he'll have some brown belts take over when he travels though.

I am undecided on training at his place, or Vitor Shaolin's....or both (if I can afford it). I already train with an ATT black belt under Marcus Aurelio, named Andres "Gigueto" Soares. I just would love a different view sometimes in training.
