I don't sell on ebay that often but I like to strike when the iron is hot. Without spamming my auction, I have a certain blue jay pitcher that is off to a hot start on ebay. Wanted to get the auction up on Sunday night and in my haste, I forgot to put my international terms in the auction.

To make a long story short, is it okay for me to accept a paypal payment from someone in Canada? The current high bidder is from Canada and I have 10 watchers right now. The auction doesn't end until Sunday, but I don't want to have the possibility of a chargeback if I can't show proof of delivery if I send it to Canada.

What's the current ebay policy? Anyone know? Can I put that I don't accept paypal payments from international bidders in my auction? I'm not a power seller on ebay so don't think I'm covered if someone wants to try to do the chargeback route.

Blame Canada! :x

This is a tough one. I would certinly not send anything to canada without confirmation, which costs a good penny to do! I would consider pulling the auction, relisting and e-mailing everyone who is bidding as to why it was pulled, ann appology for the inconvienience.

Edit: and yes, you can limit to who you sell to.

You should be able to select that you'll only select payment from certain countries.

I looked on ebay and was able to add to the description. Thanks for the two responses.

Here's what I added.

I forgot to put that I cannot accept a paypal payment from international bidders. Paypal does not protect the seller when shipping internationally so I cannot accept a paypal payment from Canada or other international buyers. Sorry for the inconvenience. You can still bid and win the auction but must pay with another form of payment.

I have done a lot of deals with Canadians, and never had a problem over Paypal or Ebay...

I am sure they are legitimate - just check their feedbacks before saying okay...

I thought you couldn't solicit another form of payment on eBay?

Correct, you cannot ask for another form of payment, but if a buyer asks you, you can say it is ok.

You should go into your auction settings and block all bids from international bidders. That's what I do. No one ever bothers to read the description, so just block all of them.

Almost all international addys are confirmed now + I believe ebay has extended seller protection to ALL sellers now. Double check that as I’ve been a powerseller for years, so have always had seller protection (since ebay implemented it). However, you MUST have trackable information. Often you can track a package JUST from the customs form #, but I’m not certain that would hold up against a chargeback (never had it arise).

BTW, you CANNOT solicit another form of payment IN your auction, so I’d take that out. you CAN say ‘yes’ IF a buyer asks to pay by another method, but soliciting it is a no no/policy violation.

for bluejays players, you might get a lot more interest if you allow canadians to bid...just check to make sure they have a verified paypal account and good feedback....i sometimes ask usa sellers to allow me to bid on items that they dont have available for international buyers through pm
