A new idea for the transactions forum

I get what you are all saying, but it will be difficult to convince more non-prospectors to come over when there is no way to avoid them. As I mentioned before, I would post that I do not want any prospects and all I would get offered is prospects.

Well, there is one way to avoid them and that is to stop trading here. I would imagine that is counter to your ultimate goals.

Do you think have a non-prospect type symbol would help? Just trying to see if there are other solutions...

Here is my problem: Whenever I post threads, it is immediately wiped off of the first page because everyone is looking for prospects. In my last 3 trading threads, I probably have 1 or 2 replies.

Not for nothing, but that indicates to me you simply have things not many people here want. This board is a prospectors board predominantly, there is no way getting around that. However, I've seen many of vintage offerings get much attention, it just depends on what your trading.

Well I tend to get lots of replies on other forums, so I have what veteran collectors want.

I'll just copy and paste the important, and seemingly overlooked part of my post.

Dont get me wrong, I too get frustrated when trading. I mean, how many people have anything to offer in the way of oddball gooden cards? I'd love there to be a Gooden trade board as much as you want a Vet trade board, but alas, this forum in not really the place for eithor..

But the difference is there are quite a few veteran collectors here. Gooden collectors, none but you.

People know how to use the search feature if they are looking for your card they will find it. If not it gets buried thats how it is.

That is why it is best to actually post the cards you have available, instead of saying, "Check my bucket and let me know" or something to that effect (or is it affect - not sure).

But the difference is there are quite a few veteran collectors here. Gooden collectors, none but you.

Actually, there are atleast 3 others that i know of, just about as many as active vintage traders here, but I digress. Point being, there is no need to create a forum for such relatively small factions of the collecting and trading whole.

I was going to say I wouldn't mind a separate forum for trading vet cards as that's usually what I'm looking for. However, LLWesMan's suggestion would work just as well if people used the icon and would eliminate the problem of dividing the forums even more.

I think you would see too many people not using it, at all, if there was two different ones.

I think that if you are going to do a specific icon for non-prospect posts (may I suggest a MLB logo, since half of the prospects will never see one on a jersey), turn off most, if not all, of the other icons. That way if someone is looking for non-prospect posts, they can just scroll down and look for icons, from page to page.

I don't see that being effective. The people that offer prospects when I clearly state no prospects are no more likely to have the reading comprehension skills to follow the instructions in a sticky either.

+1 I once posted a topic saying for trade Jeter auto then you opened the topic and it clearly says "Not interested in anything non yankees" well I got around 5 CMB and seen around 2 cano one color jerseys and nothing else yankees, I gave up and sold it on the bay.

A simple solution, searching? How does that help? Maybe if someone lists the exact specifics on each card, but most of the time traders look for what catches their eye, not an exact card. I do not ever see using the search function to trade.

As I said earlier if people listed the cards it wouldnt be a problem. Instead they rather have everyone else do their work searching through poorly organized buckets looking for one players card.

I find it way more annoying that there are a billion topics in there that look like this

Subject: GREAT CARDS FOR TRADE HOF AUTO GU MORE

you open the page and see

now you have to fish through 700 crappy gu's no one wants to get to the 1 yogi berra auto and of course they will bump it 15 times in 5 days since no one pm'ed them.
