EXACTLY. I throw around "evil" words like it's no ones business and some of these kids on xboxlive straight "impress me" with their vocabulary.

Just kind of ironic that those few here are all at arms over a swearing filter on a message board they THEMSELVES are posting on, meanwhile little Johnny is getting his swerve on in xboxlive... :lol:

Well, MY OPINION (bolded to point out to certain little creatons that like to throw around the whole "Well that's my opinion" garbage) is that foul language is ok ..AT THE RIGHT MOMENT.

Who determines when that right moment is? I determine it for myself, you for yourself, him for his self and so on and so forth.

You don't determine what is right for me. I don't determine what is right for you. Learn that, remember it. It might actually help you be socially accepted and hold down a solid job one day.


I really don't care what people do or say on this, or any other message board. If it is allowed here...then it's allowed. I have nothing to say about it. If I didn't want to hear/read it I don't have to type Freedomcardboard.com into my address bar each day. You choose to come here, deal with it.

It makes people feel big, and it can cover for lack of intelligence in heated discussion whenever they feel backed into a corner. It's a defense mechanism based of inferiority. Swearing usually displays assertiveness and dominance (along with name-calling) in that person's mind, because they feel it gives them the upper hand.

I'm not offended by it, simply because I've heard it all my life in the south and on XBL, but that doesn't mean I'm going to do it all of the time. It just sounds ignorant.

Yeah, using them in conversation on a regular basis. I agree that they can be used for emphasis and in excitement, but regular use in conversation or saying them for the sake of saying them....


Pete14Rose: I never called anyone inferior or simple minded so stop reading into things too deep. Inferiority is an intrapersonally projected feeling. I can call someone inferior all day long, but it's feeling it about yourself that makes you develop certain defense mechanisms to combat it. And there's a difference between being ignorant (read: "not simple minded", as they are two totally different things) and sounding ignorant. Even the smartest person can sound ignorant when they feel they need insults or swearing to prove a point that can be done easily without. Especially on a high traffic site that may be visited from a work space or from an elementary school's computer lab.

Edit: And "lack of intelligence" covers a pretty wide spectrum. I have a "lack of intelligence" when it comes to developing nuclear propulsion rocket systems -- doesn't mean I'm an idiot.

Edit 2: And this isn't directed at anyone. Like I said, some people DO use it casually. Hell, I do myself sometimes. My initial answer was, as gilmo said, very much a generalization. Take it as that.
