Shhhh! I can still pick up those guys (and Ken Boyer, my addition to the list) pretty cheap up here. Loved Ted simmons as a kid. Always stuck in Johnny Bench's shadow. Maybe a notch below bench defensively, but hit for average, and decent power.

in terms of current players - Brian McCann is one - arguably the best catcher in the game and on his way to a sixth consecutive all star game at age 27.
