Didn't realize I said the Sox were in a pennant race...
Nice Comments from Reynolds.....
"Definitely. I've never in my life seen someone reverse a call. The guy in Colorado, the guy was off the bag by three feet. And my foot was on the bag and they reversed it. And it's a shame they don't have accountability. They don't have any, if they make a bad cal it's like, "Ho-hum, next day is coming." If we have a bad couple of games we get benched or we get sent down. They have nobody breathing down their throats. They have nobody, they are just secure in their jobs. And they are probably over there right now laughing about it because they don't worry about it. This game is way too important right now, where we are in the season, for these kind of calls to happen. And it's very frustrating."
[on being ejected after spiking his glove] "That's terrible. Vic [Carapazza] has no authority to throw me out right there. all I did was an equipment violation, it's a fine. You are supposed to point at it and the league offices decide what to do there. He just threw me out right there. I didn't do anything wrong. If I go up to him and say something to him, that I shouldn't say. That's fine, throw me out there for that. But you can't throw me out for throwing my glove. What's the difference between a guy throwing his helmet after a bad call? It's just part of it and everybody goes on their way. He had no right to throw me out there. There's just so many words I can't say on this camera right now."
[on how tough this was to handle] "It's almost like screw the Orioles by the umpires. I mean Jonsie was obviously safe at first base the other day, cost us a run against Boston. There's got to be some kind of replay for this. It's to the point where all these calls that get missed, cost people runs, cost people outs. Cost [starter Tommy Hunter] extra pitches. I can't say how I really feel but it's pretty obvious."

You absolutely can't reverse a call. Ever. There is homerun replay but on safe/out and ball/strike calls, there is no reversing them no matter how wrong they were. It completely loses the umpires all credibility.
Where did you get that idea?
Probably one of the stupidest things I've ever read.
Not sure I would call it the worst call ever and it didnt really make that big of a difference in the outcome of the game so...
The same crew just ejected Yunel Escobar in the Jays/Rangers game. Presumably for arguing balls and strikes....
As the Jays were taking the field. The ump behind the plate is pointing at Yunel, inciting him essentially.
I don't follow, what is so stupid about what I said?
But Mark Reynolds was not ejected bc of the call. He was ejected bc of his reaction to the call. If he had stayed calm and just accepted the umpires call he would have stayed in the game.I already admitted the "worst call ever" was just an "in the moment" drama. I obviously don't think it was the worst call ever. However, it was pretty bad.
I would've rather them just get it wrong and call him safe from the get go.
And you don't know if it impacted the game or not. Mark Reynolds is actually one of our hottest hitters right now, who is to say his last at bat would not have changed the out come of the game?

With that line of thinking, you could also say, who is to say that if Mark Reynolds stayed in the game, he could have gotten beaned in the head in his next at bat and ended his career.
Well, its debatable whether or not he should have been thrown out.Mark Reynolds should not have even been ejected, that's the point. There were so many things wrong from the umpires in that play.
I think you are thinking of the crew for the Dodgers/Pirates series.
the o's are in a pennant race?
