Re: absolutely HUGE problem with GAYPAL....please read guys...

I have buddies that this has happened to. They are cracking down big time. As far as I have heard, there is nothing you can do about it. You must have been OVERLY using it.

I think they should come with some stipulation of up to 5 "gifts" a month, etc.

Sorry to hear you got pinched.

I hate paypal (and ebay) fees as much as anyone, but they are providing us with a service. Just because we are accustomed to not having to pay for it doesn't necessarily mean that it should be free.

Well basically you are taking advantage of the system and they are stopping you from doing so.

You also run the risk between you and the other 1000's who are doing the same to make the gift option go away. Their fees suck, but if you want paid instantly you really have no other option.

I figure it will be a matter of time before they do away with that option for good.

They are double dipping, or more

I believe if you don't use your credit card, it should be free or at least the 3 % is waived..

If I pay with my credit card, they get charged by the CC company, so I can see them charging for that..

They are already making money on me if I keep it in my paypal account..

1. they charge me to collect money
2. then they use my money to collect interest which I don't get alot back 0.5% or less
and
3 when I send money that's already in my account thats been "fee'd" already, they charge the seller all over again...

I wonder how many times they charge on the same money?

So you abuse the system and then come on here bitching and moaning about Paypal taking it away from you? ::facepalm::

You are (were) knowingly going around the system to pay/get paid for deals. You are using THEIR service, they deserve their slice of the pie, whether you like it or not.

The more and more people who abuse the system will ruin it for everyone. I use it from time to time, maybe every other week or so. But the people who use it 10 times a week+, will absolutely ruin it for all of us.

Sorry to hear it man but, it's the price we pay. They provide a service (allowing people who will never meet to send money to eachother relatively safely) and because of them and ebay our buying and selling habits have changed drastically. Think about it, they take a 3% cut (plus ebays 9ish%), BUT because of their service I, as a seller, have access to a much larger group of buyers which raises my final price. I think fees suck too, but I also think we're spoiled. This is not a HUGE problem, a HUGE problem is spewing out of the bottom of the Gulf :D perspective my man, perspective.

ok guys..as far as ruin it...first of all, not all of you do this FT for a living and own a store. second of all, i love the sellers, like TIM who has sold 3 items in 2010 on ebay who complain about people like me, who have done 100k in paypal YTD. The fee becomes an issue for bigger sellers/buyers.

Just amazes me how guys who do below avg volume complain and ********* about guys who do it FT complaining about fees.

justwar....good point....not a huge worldly problem...but its just so frustrating that they kill us on ebay so we have to resort to other ways around those fees and now those ways are slowing being dimished...

No offense, but you are the one who chose to take what is a hobby to most of us, and turn it into a business venture for yourself. You are also the one who chose to not only run your venture out of a store (I am assuming at this point), but also use the internet to expand your business venture. It's quite simple really, if you don't like paypal and eBay, then don't use them. You are at fault on this one for abusing the system it sounds like. This is just my opinion.

I feel bad that some people are going to ruin this for everyone by abusing the gift option on paypal.

Those of us who are not doing is as a full-time business should be the ones who can use the gift option every now and then. Since I'm not running a business, I shouldn't need to worry too much about business expenses. If I have to pay fees, it's not a whole lot, so I won't get too upset about it.

Do you get upset when you have to pay rent, power bills, taxes, etc? How is this any different? It's not, you're just acustomed to getting this service for free. Yeah it sucks, but so does my car payment. Don't expect a ton of sympathy here. I suggest you write your congressman or the FBI.
