I tell my students all of the time that the best way to change things is to jump in the middle of it. If they don't like how Republicans run things, then join the Republican party and change it from the inside. If they don't like how Democrats run things, do the same. Sitting on the sidelines and complaining accomplishes nothing. So how can we, as collectors, actually change the direction of our hobby? It is obvious that if the current path continues, things will not go well.

So if I take my own advice, then I would need to be in the middle of it. So my idea is to just come up with a single product that changes how everything is done and falls within the rules that MLB has put forth. So if we, as a community, could create ONE set that would change everything and put this hobby back on the right path, what would it contain? How would you innovate it? And I don't mean "more veterans" or "fewer parallels". How would you REALLY change it?

You can't use logos. Would never work.

You could make an amazing product and present it to Topps. Thanks for playing. /reopenthread

Go ahead and try. You will never be able to make a great product without logos. NT made a very good product without logos but still wasn't great because of no logos.

Until other companies get licenses, Topps won't change and the products won't get better.

Its a nice idea but something like this could never be accomplished.

Tie baseball cards to fantasy baseball. Baseball cards that you can use to unlock a fantasy baseball team that you manage, via codes entered on a website. Parallels, autos and game used cards are included - but don't give you an advantage. On the online component, you are competing against all registered users. Prizes include high-end cards similar to Triple Threads, given away daily, weekly and season. Top prizes include patch booklets, and season award cards are autograph cards inscribed personally to you by a top player you choose from a list of options.

Why would you present an idea to Topps that didn't contain logos? They are allowed to use them.

I don't know if you are trying to be theoretical or actually do this. Once again. Its a nice idea. Topps would never listen.

What needs to happen is we need to see another license go to either Panini or Leaf because with logos I think both companies make better products than Topps.

I have liked all the non licensed stuff released this year. Pinnacle, Prizm... Just everyone whines about the lack of logos. Topps could just do what Panini has done thus far, and I'd be fine with it.

Topps Panini and Leaf (along with every other company) DOES NOT AND WILL NEVER care about its customers

I would disagree with this. I agree that they don't do everything for the customer but IMO Leaf cares about their customers much more than any other baseball company. BG listens to consumers, handles redemptions very well, and overall tries to leave customers with a good taste in their mouths.

Topps and Panini usually just tell you to shove it though.

I too have loved the stuff Panini has been putting out this year. I won't bust any because the value just isn't there at all. Even hitting a huge card will normally not cover the box cost. If Pinnacle and Prizm had logos I think they would be two of the best products out there.

If he really listened to customers, we would have told him those Leaf Trinity Patch things are 100% garbage!

You complained after it was released. You expect him to pull every box of the market because people didn't like them? I hate the idea but the cards still look much better than most of the stuff Topps puts out. BG has the best customer service in this industry hands down.

A business is in business to make money. They are putting out product that obviously are being purchased so if it's still being purchased, why would they think anything is wrong? Sure they get complaints, what business doesn't? And I think what many fail to realize is that the internet sports card forums are a small microcosm of the total collecting population. Sure, people spout off on here all the time about everything under the sun. However when the product is still being purchased, why would they do a drastic overhaul due to a small group of collectors who, by the way, still buy the product anyway?

I'm sure they do care about their customers. They HAVE to put out a product that the customers will like so that they can make money. Apparently, the product is doing fine as is. Either the product is fine, or people are so freakin' addicted to cards that they should then worry about other things in their head as opposed to what Topps is producing.

Whatever...........first world problems.

These are exactly the points I've been making in the past few threads. Glad someone else shares the same views :)

Yes, but if he had the best customer service, would ASK the customers before he made them, what products/ideas ect his customers would like to see...Thats customer service! I am about 99% sure that if he would have done that, that Leaf Trinity garbage would have never made!

He has the best customer service out of baseball card companies. Topps, Panini, Leaf. you can't debate that.

Tell me one instance when someone in this business has come up with a new idea and asked if they like it. Topps Mini's in every set? They didn't ask about those.

They release products and then listen to feedback. If people hate it so much it won't be purchased and thus won't be released next time.

I don't think you are understanding the customer service side of this hobby. And the Leaf Trinity Garbage? Those cards still look better than 99% of what Topps releases even if the patches are only event worn.
