When will he get the respect he deservers!

He only has one decent rookie too, the 2000 bowman auto, selling for about $75-$100 and going up....(was $40-50 all last year) a steal, compared to $200 (was 250-300) for sizemores of the same set.

Also being a padre, at pitcher freindly park...any other team, he would probably be at 25HR, and would be a $200+ card.

Adrian is also a fan favorite in SD, great character!

Don't remind me that we could have him instead of Chris Davis...

Maybe the worst trade in the history of the Texas Rangers:
January 6, 2006: Rangers trade Adrian Gonzalez & Chris Young to the Padres for Adam Eaton & Akinori Otsuka. ::facepalm::

The trade made sense at the time, and that's all that really matters.

Perhaps all a guy like Gonzalez needed was to be home in San Diego to jump start his career. It's completely plausible that he would never become the player he has if he stayed in Florida or Texas.

I bought one of those autos yesterday, anything under $100 is a bargain IMO.

It's pathetic that Carlos Pena and Adrian Gonzalez are mashing homers left and right, and both are the most under appreciated players for what they do...

...and we in Maine remember him as a Sea Dog!

My son got a TTM from him when he played in Portland. Need to find that card......

As a Ray fan, I watch Carlos play every single night. He is a great player, but really doesn't deserve the recognition when he is hitting sub .230 all year. He is leading the league in walks however, so that makes up for it a lot. He has has an amazing glove at first.

No two power hitters will ever be as criminally underrated as Adam Dunn and Jim Thome. 4th and 5th all time in AB per HR. Dunn is 7 HR away from 300 for his career before 30 and his chrome rookie can be had for peanuts. Thome along with Griffey is probably one of the only 2 players in the modern day to hit 500 HR without ever being accused of steroid use and his rookie cards are just off the map cheap.

5 home runs were at home and 15 have been on the road. If he played in a smaller ballpark he could be around 30+ at this point.

That's still pure speculation on your part. It wouldn't surprise me that he did, but there has been no evidence whatsoever to support your claim. He has been the same player his entire career without the ups and downs that PED users usually go through (look at Garrett Anderson from 2000 to 2003).

Thome has never been linked to any of these allegations, as far as I know. He wasn't named in the Mitchell report and Jose Canseco has never mentioned him? Clean in my book. Body size is no determinant of steroid usage. Yes, it helps to determine some of the more obvious cases, but Thome has been mashing the ball his entire career on a consistent clip.

Besides, what 18-19 year old kid looks the same as he did when he was 35-40 in terms of body size when his occupation requires him to smash baseballs for a living?

Plus, when scouts are used to scout players, they say things like "Has a wiry frame that projects to a power hitter's frame", like they're saying about Jason Heyward. He plays at 6-4 and 220 but will probably increase to 240-250 before all is said and done. Justin Upton is the same way. Power hitters put on the pounds.

Was thinking of throwing my Adrian on EBay, but wow those got flooded quickly. Maybe I'll wait a few weeks when he hits 30. SD going on a road trip soon?

first off jose never played with him...most of the players he named he played with and seen them shoot up, and yeah hell arod and manny werent names in the mitchell report but what about the 100 plus names there keeping secret...hmmmm, and the whole 18-19 year old kid looking small was never an excuse for bonds....thats all the argument was so how the hell does thome get off..because hes a nice guy.
