With the exception of vacuuming I didn’t even walk into my sportscard room at my house from the day I stopped collecting nearly 2 years ago. I used to bust a bunch of cases and buy/sell a lot. Too much actually. I had the too good to be true deal and invested a lot of money into a bad situation and got ripped off in a big way. After that I was so sick to my stomach to even open my email account. So I just stopped. I cut off all communications with anyone or anything to do with baseball cards. My wife also collects and actually is the one that got me back into it. And with watching the whole Strasburg phenomenon on TV I just had to see what the sportscard market was like again. It didn’t take long to get that rush back to just be around sportscards. I’m going to try and keep it more for fun then worrying about the $ this time.

Yesterday I sent off 8 vintage cards for grading to PSA. I am attaching pictures of all 8 cards that I have sent. You need to respond with your grades for each card. The person who is closest wins. EX: if you say everything will grade a PSA7 then your total number is 56 (8 cards x grades of 7). Please reply with grades for each card though as the tiebreaker for 1st place (if two people have the same number) will be who has the most correct grades. The grades should post sometime early next week.

I will accept guesses until midnight eastern time on Sunday, September 5th

Prizes:

1st place: 1963 Topps Power Plus Hank Aaron/Ernie Banks in NRMT condition. BV is $60

2nd place: (2) Nolan Ryan cards. 1979 topps (nrmt but OC) and 78 Topps Record breaker (ex). BV on both is $35

*UPDATED RESULTS*
1960 Mantle PSA7
1958 Mantle AS PSA7
1955 Topps Hank Aaron PSA7
1955 Bowman Hank Aaron PSA7
1948 Leaf Ralph Kiner PSA7
1953 Bowman Color PeeWee Reese PSA5
1953 Bowman Color Stan Musial PSA5
1964 Topps Stand Ups Roberto Clemente PSA8 (and sold for $200 over SMR)
Total of 53

1st Place= RichezOne nailed it right on the button and wins the tie-breaker by giving grades for each

2nd Place= JEA2880 also had the overall, but didn't give single grades.

I'll PM both of you to get your addresses to send the prizes to.

I know the scans aren’t great but oh well, it’s just for fun. The surfaces are all really nice .

Please respond like this:
1- PSA6.5
2- PSA7
3-PSA6
etc

The cards sent for grading:

#1 1960 Topps Mickey Mantle - Sorry the corners can’t even be seen here. Not sure what happened with the scanner.

Not entering the contest, but just wanted to say good luck on your grades (great cards!).
Welcome back. I think I bought my Adam Jones RC from you way back when.

First of all, it's great to have you back. I always enjoyed your posts.

Secondly, here's my guess:

1 PSA7
2 PSA7
3 PSA7.5
4 PSA6.5
5 PSA8
6 PSA6.5
7 PSA6.5
8 PSA7

That comes to 56.

Thanks everyone. By the way I would much prefer a bunch of PSA 8's & 9's.

The 55 Topps Aaron and the Kiner are especially nice. I wouldn't be surprised if either of those are 8s, or even higher. I guessed low because raw cards are just so hard to judge from scans, so it's easier to miss a flaw. The ink on the border of the two 53 Bowman Colors looks incomplete, which is why I graded them low.

It's basically impossible to be accurate, especially with these cruddy pics. The Clemente is the one I actually think has the best chance. The scan looks bad but it is really nice in person. I would be thrilled if I got an 8 from anything on there. That isn't going to happen though. The Kiner was so nice I thought it had to be trimmed. It measures out perfect though. Who knows though. PSA doesn't seem to like me.
