Without having been in ATL for 25+ years, did the damage from the Storm a few years back play into it at all? No idea, just wondering...

Not in this case, guessing you didnt read the story?

Actually, it was the case. If you live here, you would know that someone from the Falcons leaked the "possibility" of a move to the local news outlets and sports talk radio. Also the threat of a move to the suburbs prompted the city to expedite the deal.

I'm against building it downtown. Such a pain in the ass to go to the dome for anyone living outside the perimeter, even if you do catch Marta. I just hope the new stadium will have access to one of the Marta rail stations. That's one big flaw of the Ted, you cant take the Marta train there. At least most of the $200 million from the city will come from tourists staying at downtown hotels.

I hope they dont ignore a case study like the Braves did that created the Turner Field problem that we see today. The Braves stadium is okay once your inside but offers nothing around it. The Braves were warned that no businesses would setup shop due to the surrounding neighborhood. A KFC couldn't even survive the panhandlers. No business is going to open up around a football stadium that is used only half the year. Plus, Atlanta is really a college sports town that happens to have 3 major sports teams that get attention when college football is not playing.. In just like with Detroit, only the poor and rich with some college students sprinkled around actually live in Atlanta and the middle class enjoy Atlanta entertainment options then return to the safety of their house outside city limits.

I still think they need to get out of down town.

Sandy Springs or Buckhead makes more sense to me.

If you saw Reed 's press conference about it Thursday, he seemed like a giant joke in it.

I was hoping for the old GM site in Doraville or up near Verizon amphitheater. This idea that the Falcons and the Braves have to be in downtown is stupid.

The Georgia Dome is like a magic time machine back to the year 1994. The place didn't age well.

Probably could use a location with parking that would allow for more tailgating etc. Right now its located in the dead urban core of the old city of Atlanta. The new downtown of Buckhead makes more sense but anything would be an upgrade on its current location.
