I don't recall Panini ever being in the licensed MLB card game. Are you talking unlicensed stuff like 2008 Playoff and the like? If so, ITG is starting to get into unlicensed baseball.
you know that Panini has been around a long time right?

The OP said that he wanted Panini "back with baseball". I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about stickers. Panini has never been in the licensed ML card production game, that I know of. I was thinking that maybe the OP meant he wanted them IN the baseball game (no ITG pun intended).

You may well get your wish for competition imminently....
BG
uggh, so you can truck another brand? please don't, leave baseball cards alone, or hire yourself a real marketing team.

its not that I don't like you BG, and Im not trying to be an ass, i just cant stand the crap that razor put out (that you were tied to) and the crap that you think is gold with Leaf. Please make me a believer in your releases, i really wish there was something out there other than Topps that had real market value and collect-able value.

Competition is never a bad thing, unless it's overkill. I'm fine with Leaf trying baseball. If I don't like what I see, I won't buy any. No need to be so negative about it.

Many of the Donruss/Leaf/Playoff/Pinnacle whatever employees that were left over are still with Panini. So it is hard to say they've never been licensed.

They haven't ever released any licensed baseball cards, to my knowledge. That's all I'm getting at. The OP sort of confused me, because I'm not certain whether he meant licensed or unlicensed.

Panini made great stickers back in the day

Absolutely. I remember collecting the 1988 sticker set when I was in middle school. Don Mattingly was on the album cover.

They still do, and their products are usually bottom end.

Not a big fan of Panini. I think they make garbage products.

That's my opinion, and I refuse to purchase anymore wax from them.

So you would rather see a topps monopoly rather than more competition with baseball products? This is just my take but I would get sick of just one competitor bringing out the same stuff year after year. I want variety I want to have more of a choice in what to choose from when it comes to collectiong. I don't want just one company dominating the whole baseball market. People who want a topps monopoly are nuts and absolutely insane. I liked it for the first couple of years but now its just the same junk year after year and I am tired of it. I want to go back to pre 2005 where I had more of a choice what I could buy. Yes topps is nice and I enjoy some of there products but for the most part I get tired of seeing the same and only name year after year.

I'm sure no one will agree with me, but I hate DLP/Panini's designs. Makes me think I'm watching Max Headroom, at Studio 54, while taking a lot of mind-altering substances

There's too many releases as it is. I don't see the (re)entry of another manufacturer leading to a better hobby, only a return to a more complicated one.

Rest assured people would still complain about the lack of quality relases even with another manufacturer or two because most people simply like to complain...

Limit the amount of releases per mfg. Do we really need A&G, T206, National Chicle, Gypsy Queen, etc? No. Just cut it back, add some competition, and add some flavor to the mix.

Sure, on a related note is the target audience of releases - not every release needs to be targeted towards 'elite collectors' even though many (most??) here may like them all to be. We're just talking baseball cards after all ;)

I don't want you to misunderstand my point. I don't have a problem with different themed products for different levels of collectors, but don't shove the same repetitive crap down my throat like the above mentioned "similar" products. Choose the one that best represents your company and go with it. There's no need for repetitive staleness.
