Love your idea, but Cardinals are my team. Let me know if they become available.

All the best,
T.

If there's enough interest in multiple teams, any chance there could be 2 groups? I know it seems like a big nightmare for Andrew, but it seems like there has been at least some interest by more than one person in some of the teams already taken. I'm definitely not even the 2nd-most known Brewers collector on the board, but would be very interested in being a part of something like this if none of the other Brewers collectors wanted in.

If not, and I wasn't stepping on a Braves team collector's toes, I would be interested in taking the Braves as well (although not sure who would get the Hank Aaron card if we busted a box of 1955 Topps - :D).

Here is an open question about the rules as they are forming...I know that I could keep my mouth shut and do this in a backdoor kind of way, but I really have no intention of acting that way.

I saw this thread early and requested the Red Sox, good for me. I read CT Sox Fan's post above and appreciate his points. Can I "resell" my slot to someone like him if the break does not appeal to me? You will still get the paypal payment from me and probably even ship to me, but he will pay me and I will sent the package on to him.

Like I said, I know I could do that anyway with private messages and emails...but this is a small community and if people are shopping their slots around, word will get out. I would be living up to the letter of my agreement in that I would pay for the slot and receive the cards.

Just curious as this is all preliminary...thoughts?

Think its better if it opens up to everyone and not done backdoor and I want the sox and am saying that

I hear you. But, I don't think its any different than "splitting" a team with someone. But, like I said, I wanted it to be in the open for conversation as the rules are forming.

As of right now it looks like we have 14 teams.

I think we could do some kind of Tier with the teams. It really depends on that team and the 1st person that picked them. Lets say we bust '12 Bowman Chrome. There will be plenty of base cards for each team. If the 1st tier was okay with it, the 2nd tier could get some base. This way helping out another team collector.

I would like to keep it fair and enjoyable for everyone. Tier 1 always has the right to their team for each break. If they give up their spot they can have 3 reserves. A reserve will keep their spot for the next break and so on. You can not use a reserve back to back. Once all 3 reserves are used if you step out of a break and someone picks up that team it will be their team until their reserves or they are done.

As for backdoor trading/team swapping, it happens. But by putting Tiers in place I think that would element some of that.

I am thinking to try and keep pricing around 60 to 70. It really depends on the product. If we get up to 20 teams we can bust more and the price per slot comes down.

'12 Bowman Chrome - 15 slot break would be $63 a team. You would get your team and a random team.

Sometimes it might just be random boxes, sometimes a case. I think we could do almost every Topps product by the case except the high end stuff. For those it might have to be by the box or it could get pricey. If we know Triple Threads is coming up, we could skip a month and then use July/August money for the TTT break.

It looks like the rangers are open. If this is allowed, I will pick them up (in addition to the Red Sox) and then we will be at 15.

If 15 is the target, we might be able to try and start this.

Obviously I seem to be in the minority, but I don't like a tier system. Everyone pays the same and that's that. That's why I think 15 teams would be the ideal group size because then everyone would get 2 teams. True, you may not care for your second team, but it doubles your chances of getting nice hits.

Tiers only happen if the main guy wants to share his base. It would not be for everyone in the group. Lets say MisterT doesnt mind sharing the base with CT Sox or anyone else. The Red Sox would have Tiers and besides Tramers, no one collects the Pirates so they wouldnt have to worry about having someone under them.

Okay. That doesn't sound too bad. I know some will complain, but I don't think team pricing needs to be tiered. If we do a case of chrome, divide the cost by 15 and that's what everyone pays. I think that is the best way to do it.

that is correct, no different pricing. The tiers can work it out and I wont have a problem shipping to T2 or T3's

Is everyone set on having 15 slots or does it not matter?

15 slots, you get an extra team

16 on up, all hits are random at the end of the break and everyone gets the base sorted randomly.

You know my vote. I'd rather stick at 15 so that everyone gets 2 teams every break.

I am fine with 2 - the second team being random each break or go to the bag for the hits and disperse the extra base/inserts randomly/evenly. My extra team/cards would most likely go to the TC group anyway.
