I figured I would start a thread about this just for the hell of it. Nyjer Morgan post game antics threads popped up at every opportunity on this board, and I thought in the name of those I would post this one. What do Cardinals fans think of this? Do you think Pujols should have steped up and took the heat?

For the record, I am not a bitter Brewer's fan looking to jab the Cardinals in any way. I give the Cards props, they absolutely dominated the Brewer's and TRL completely out-managed Roenickie. Just looking to start up a conversation. Pujols is a beast with the bat, but I would have expected the best player on "my" team to own it.

A local sportstalk host, Andy Van Slyke, predicted Texas could win some of these games because of their legs. Something that the Cardinals don't have and was what he considered the edge in the series.

That being said, we absolutely gave the game to them by the error by Pujols and I think, the over-management by Larussa last night. I feel Larussa should of kept Motte in. He is a strikeout pitcher, which is what we needed and would of been a lot harder to hit a solid fly ball like Hamilton did off of the curve of Rhodes.

I hope the team takes as much heat as Lebron took when he didn't take post game interviews after losing to the Magic in the playoffs. It's easy to gang up on someone like Lebron, but let's see what happens when its a "classy" player that does it.

Albert will never be portrayed as bad as Lebron, Lebron is at least 10x more famous than Pujols. So that magnifies Lebron's actions.

WE DO!!!

Seriously though, he owes it to the fans. The Cardinal Nation deserved to hear Albert admit he choked it last night, and he should promise to turn it up a notch in game 3. They do sorta pay his paycheck after all... for a few more games, at least.

Oh no he made an error at first in a World Series game. Note this is no way a big deal in the grand scheme of things

I will now take all your questions

I guarantee you his teammates care. Especially the ones that stood there like men and answered the hard questions after failing last night.

How do you know he didnt address his teammates? Most of these guys could care less about what is and isnt said in the media.

It doesn't matter if he addressed his teammates. He didn't owe them an explanation -- he owed them the common courtesy of taking questions from the media about HIS ERROR so that they didn't have to answer for it. He needed to face the media. You don't screw up and then leave your teammates to explain it for you. That's not being a good teammate. Instead, guys like Furcal had to stand and be asked to explain Pujols' error.

You are incredibly naive if you think it isn't a big deal in a clubhouse when a guy effs up and then leaves without talking to the media. He may not have wanted to stand in front of the media and take the questions, but he owed it to his teammates to do so. It is part of the job.

Everybody, not just the superstar, is expected to do it. Even starting pitchers who get lit up and knocked out in the 2nd inning stick around until after the game to talk to the media. That's the way it works.

MLB rules require that players be available to the media and even more so during the World Series. WHile he has a ton of money, missing the media session will probably cost him a few bucks in fines.

I also think the classiest players stand up and take their lumps in good times and in bad. He should ave stood there and answered questions instead of making his teammates answer for him.

I'm just wondering, had this been game 7, would we all be talking about "Pujols' Boner"?

It's lucky it was game 2, I don't think people will remember it as much. It had the potential to be a Buckner or Bartman moment.

I think we need to not worry about that error. Really what about Punto not getting the bunt down or Schumaker coming off the bench when he has played very fee postseason games he didnt move the runners either you can blame over managing. The no doubles defense caused kinsler to get on and later score. Why not walk young and set up a double play then you go bottom of 9 tied.

They would have had to answer those questions regardless of weather he talked or not.

No, they wouldn't have.
