I can only imagine how different that inning could have been.

Granderson should have had a four pitch walk and Cano should have still been standing at the plate.

I have never seen such a horrible umpire in my life. Never. This guy makes Jerry West look like the Babe Ruth of Umpires.

You're lucky Verlander dinked around with Posada. Down 0-2, he had no business throwing him 2 curveballs. Should have struck him out, which would mean we'd still be looking at 2 runs for the Yanks. But I do agree, the umpiring has favored us.

I couldn't believe he didn't just bring a heater and put him away. Nuts.

He went back to the young Verlander, where he always wanted to be cute. 0-2, they can't touch 98 MPH heat.

No, the Yankees are lucky none of those pitches to Posada were called strikes.

Sabathia was squeezed and Verlander was given anything.

I just want to see the dancing fool blow it.

Cause he doesn't hit the weight room?
He doesnt hit the weight room? You must be joking right? Do you see the size of the guys forearms and legs?

Because CF is 420 feet, and that ball is a HR in over half of MLB parks. And if you saw it, he was a bit fooled and still hit it 410 feet to center. BEAST.
More like 418 ft.

You know what the sad thing is about watching the Yankees lose? 90% of their success in the postseason comes from homegrown players...

Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Bernie, Pettitte....to guys like Cano, Gardner, Robertson, Joba...

The big money makers they pay for generally don't work out for them in the postseason. Seems like they should just stick to drafting and home-growing their players.

OK, Valverde is going to give me a freaking heart attack if he keeps this stuff up. Wow, what a win!

Season is over.

I can't wait until Brooks puts this game up on their site.

I said something like this to a Yankee friend of mine on Saturday. Since they started being big free agent players, opening the checkbook to everyone, they have 1 championship.

I will give the Yankees this-it seems like the last year or 2 they have gotten back to developing their young talent. If I were the Yankees, I would have said no to Soriano, and taken that $30+M and added it to the Cliff Lee offer. Lee was a must get for the Yanks.

This is far from over, but I like our chances.

Kind of hard to tell when someone is joking on a message board.

At the start of the season, I believe in a boomo thread, I said they would finish third in the east because of the pitching. The fact that they made the playoff was a surprise to me. A first round exit wouldn't be. Can't win when the big bats become number 2 pencils.

That money wouldnt have made a difference with Lee. He wasnt signing with them. Regardless, I think they signed Soriano after that deal fell through.

It never does any good to put up the box during games. There's no way it's consistent. It's the same freaking box for every hitter. How does that work? It doesn't. All it does is make people think umps are terrible.

You guys are killing me. What a bunch of lame-o fans, I tell ya what. It's 2-1 in a 5 game series, and you say the season is over. Give me a break, it's 2 games. Just the other day you were talking about how Nova is going to be 1b on the Yankees and how he was "off" but threw 6 shutout innings before losing it in the 9th.

Burnett has had a bad year-but all it takes is one start. Porcello could give up 6 runs, and it wouldn't surprise me. You guys throwing in the towel right now are an absolute joke. Typical Yankees fan, when you face adversity you act like a spoiled 5 year old.

This series is far from over. I was even telling my buddy during the 9th, even if the Tigers lost I would feel ok needing to win game 4 and 5. It's 2 fracking games, why can't they do it? The Yankees are not out-but, you are checking out. Stay classy, New York.

I try to be as objective as I can, and the bottom line is the Tigers were given more breaks than the Yankees. I don't like the box being up, because I just don't think it's right. But, Jackson walked in his first 2 AB's on pitches that were strikes, and both pitches were closer than the pitch Cano got called out on in the 8th.

The strike zone was pretty consistent otherwise until the 8th inning.

But again-if Verlander wouldn't have tried getting cute to Posada with 2 outs, ahead 0-2, in the 7th, this strike zone debate would be much less significant.
