Good for Arod. At this point, hopefully he has learned to find intrinsic joy in his accomplishments, because he has clearly thrown away any chance at the fan adulation he cherished for so long. He will always have those career numbers, and they may be pretty eye-popping when he finally retires. Hopefully he finds solace in them while the majority of fans ignore them.

The downfall of these steroid guys is so fascinating to me; it is tragedy in the Greek/dramatic sense of the term (especially the saga of Sosa and McGwire - Arod's tale is still unfolding).

PED's or not, Arod is a very smug and arrogant person.....It's very difficult to like the guy.

And I was still in high school when he came up; so believe me: I wanted him to be my generations hero. Past decades had DiMaggio and Mantle and Aaron and Mays and Reggie and Cal and all the greats. It would be so great as a baseball fan to cheer on a guy that I've basically been watching since I was 18. But I can't because he's just a big fat jerk. And a repeat cheater.

Wasn't Reggie pretty smug and arrogant too? And that's coming from a Reggie fan

Yeah, he was. Steve Carlton, to an extent, was also. And I'm a huge Lefty fan. He didn't want to talk to reporters, but I really can't blame him for that.

I think it's different for everyone as to how much of a jerk all the roid players were. I think Bonds and Clemens were at the top of the jerk-o-meter list. Then Arod and McGwire. I just think it's so sad that these great players cheated, because they didn't need to. They were so talented, it's ashame we will never know what their true numbers would have been.

It only doesn't matter for A-Rod. It's not as though a "clean" player is doing it and it's being ignored. I don't know why anyone would base their perception of milestone stats on how fans react or don't react to A-Rod reaching them. What's sad is that a guy would go so far to get to these milestones.

What a lot of A-Rod "supporters" can't seem to grasp is how and why others don't care about him or respect him. If you do, that's fine. That's your prerogative. Just like it's another's prerogative to ignore him and his milestones. Done. What's the issue.
