Looks like there may well be a large presence of Oriole fans in attendance today at Yankee Stadium, lots of Md. vehicles on the Turnpike, NYC Bolt Busses sold out.
Heard on the radio here in NY a couple hours ago that tickets could be had as low as $22 or so, and there was still well over 10,000 not sold...

As an ARod collector, I watch every at bat of his whether it's in the box score, on TV, computer, whatever. Yes he has had a horrible post season so far but much more is expected of him as it should be. Take any job in America and you expect those making the most money to be the most productive for the organization. Take away Jeter, Tex and Ibanez and the entire Yankee line up has been awful. Ichiro, ARod and Swisher have been on base the exact number of times. Cano has been base 1 less time than each of them. And Granderson has been on base the least amount of anyone-only twice. It's expected for hitters to fall off some in the post season (unless your name is Derek Jeter) because they are facing better than average pitching but it is also expected for the highest paid player in baseball to bring in a guy standing on third with less than two outs to win the game.

While the others are struggling too, A-Rod has just looked completely lost against right-handers.

And trust me, with everything else he has to deal with, Girardi would not do this move just to pacify the fans or media, he did it 'cuz he thought it was the best move...

And Curtis Granderson is completely lost on everything.

He'll swing at balls at eye level and balls that bounce in front of home plate.

I know the other guys may not be hitting but they don't look lost like arod (and Granderson). I mean at least the other guys make contact and have good swings. I mean arod has more strikeouts than suzuki, cano and swisher combined. I'm sure Granderson might be sitting too if we had someone else who could play center.

Brett Gardner can play center field.

He may have three at bats since April, but I trust him more with the bat than Granderson. Plus he plays superior defense, and will actually try to use his speed on the bases.

Also, if Girardi were using Granderson only because there is no one else to play center, he would be batting ninth.

EDIT: Ichiro can play center too.

With ARod on the bench again tonight it may be the writing on the wall for his departure. Personally, I see it hard not to play Alex when the series is 3-0 and the back-up is hitting just as bad as the rest of the Yankee team (Chavez 0-14 with no walks this postseason).

Nothing has changed a day later. Alex Rodriguez still benched for todays game. Curtis Granderson is also benched.

Benched in Game 5 of ALDS. 7 ABs in the ALCS and benched in Game 4 with your team down 0-3. If he doesnt have an injury..... I dont see how he can come back in 2013 with the Yankees. This is Joe Girardi saying I have no confidence in you.

Now if he is injured... thats a whole different story.

I know people argue that others guys on the team have just as bad numbers wise as Granderson and Arod but I think you have to look at the quality of those at bats. At least the other guys seem to be putting the ball in play and working the count. Arod and Granderson just look lost at the plate.
