Someone has to replace Weeks. He'll fit in nicely.

This needs to be a short-term move. He'd be too valuable at SS to not have him there in the long run.

Taylor Green was another option but Brewers brass didn't think he would make the transition that quickly... They are still going to have some logjams.

While Escobar's defense at SS is considered All-Star caliber, he's still largely unproven. And with Hardy basically saying he's at short or he wants to be traded, they're locked in to having Escobar stuck in the minors, moving him to another position, or trading Hardy.

And frankly, Hardy is an excellent defensive short stop, who has MLB experience. Moving Escobar could be his ticket to the majors. And having utility, especially when trying to break into the bigs, is never bad. So I think this could be an ok move for both Escobar and the Brewers.

Also, it's spelled Alcides. :)
