This is my All Decade team:

C Joe Mauer
1B Albert Pujols
2B Chase Utley
3B Alex Rodriguez
SS Derek Jeter
RF Vlad
CF Ichiro
LF Bonds
DH Ortiz

RHP Roy Halladay
LHP Johan Santana
Closer Rivera

Really hard to leave guys like Manny and Miguel Cabrera off, but not everyone can be on. If I would have just selected 3 OFs instead of specific positions, I would have replace Vlad with Manny. Think this is a damn good team!

Jeff Kent is my pick over Utley and I-Rod hands down beats Mauer for the decade.

I think both of those opinions are valid arguments. Look at what Utley has done the last 5 years though! I think Kent was pretty overrated just for the fact that who wouldn't have put those numbers up with Bonds protecting him? Utley is the most dangerous hitter in his lineup, Howard is too streaky. LHPs throw sliders to Howard and strike him out at an alarming rate.

Pudge tailed off the last 5 years, and Mauer didn't play much the first 5. So really I will take Mauer and his nbatting titles over the very slight edge Pudge has defensively.

Pudge has a ring, Mauer does not. Also, Pudge was very good up until 2006, but he was still above average up until this most recent season.

Pudge (Since 2000) - 1219 G 1378 H 286 2B 161 HR 643 RBI .298 AVG .335 OBP
5x GG, 6x AS, 1x SS

Mauer (Since 2004) 699 G 844 H 158 2B 72 HR 397 RBI .327 AVG .408 OBP
2x GG, 3x AS, 3x SS, 1x MVP

If Mauer had the full decade under his belt he would without a doubt take the title.

Pudge is hard to argue against when you look at his numbers.

You do know that Kent only played three years with Bonds this decade.

And Ichiro is a Right Fielder, not a Center Fielder.

And Pudge gets it over Mauer. This is the "All Decade" Award, not the half-decade award. Pudge was great the first half, and a solid player the second half.

I don't mind saying Pudge is C. Mauers top 3 years are much better than his though this decade.

Posada does not count because of his poor defense at a very important defensive position.

Ichiro did play CF for 1 season. That qualified moving him to CF for my team since that was clearly the weakest position in the OF.

Jeff Kent's MVP and most productive years BY FAR were with Bond's protection! In fact, that MVP should be on Bonds mantle along with Terry Pendelton's also. Bonds should have at least 9 MVPs. If had Cal Ripkens personality, he would have double digit MVPs!

Why wouldn't Piazza be in the argument for catcher?

His numbers are not even up to par with Posada's.

Also probably one of the worst defensively.

Wow, I didn't realize Piazza's numbers weren't up there with the other 3 catchers (except HR). If you break it down by season for the decade here is the numbers you get:

Player - Games/Run/Hits/2B/3B/HR/RBI/AVG

Piazza - 116/55/116/21/0/23/71/.285
Posada - 130/68/125/29/1/21/82/.282
I-Rod - 122/66/138/29/3/16/64/.298
Mauer - 116/70/141/26/2/12/66/.328

If you don't count Mauer's 2004 season when he only played 35 games, his numbers would look like this:
133/80/162/30/3/13/76/.327 - he would be leading in all categories except HR and RBI.

How does bonds not belong on the list???

4 MVPs, and 1 runner up to Jeff Kent which should've gone to Bonds!

Griffey this decade is a joke! If I had to choose 25 OFs, he still would not be here! Lincecum next decade.
