Pence didn't get to play. The national league got 5 freaking hits and couldn't find an at bat for a kid in his first all-star game. That's fracking weak.

Listen, how old is Pence? Its fair to say he'll make atleast 1 more ASG

Tim Wakefield is 42 years old and he doesnt face 1 batter. C'mon man.
Atleast Wakefield and Pence got to enjoy the experience...

BTW It was also Figgins' 1st all star appearance.

But their fans didn't...

I'm glad I didn't waste my time watching the game.

bingo...

I was waiting for you to post this exact post. No kidding. I knew it was coming. You and darocker are two of the most predictable people on this board.

Figgins hauls his ass down to St. Louis after getting a call at 9 AM PST this morning that he has been chosen to replace Longoria. So he flies from LA and gets their right before game time, and he doesn't even get in the game. Thats F'n ridiculous.

Atleast Tony LaRusa (listen, we all know he was the real manager) got some fresh faces in almost regularly.

dude your 1000% right. He is 42. How many more chances is going to get? Thats the point. Thats why HE HAS to get in the game. Some of those other young kids will obviously be there again. It would not have killed King Felix to not pitch. Put Tim in there. 42 and time is not on his side.

Just to reiterate, young stuf Felix Hernandez gets to walk to the mound, and we all know barring injury he'll be back many, many more times. Meanwhile, Tim Wakefield gets to chum it up with The Sandman.

How can you blame the Cards for not mentioning McGwire? They aren't trying to hide anything, they have a freakin' section in the stadium called Big Mac land. Sure McDonald's paid them to do that, but if they were trying to pretend that '98 didn't happen do you think it would still be there?

i understand Pujols is the man in St. Louis. No Doubt. But i don't care what anyone says, the hype about Pujols does not come close to the buzz that surrounded St. Louis in 1998. It was the epicenter of baseball and sportscenter. I was 15 in 1998. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was one of the biggest national event/ World Coverage story in the last 30 years. To not even have 1 mention of McGwire's name, as They still keep "Big Mac Land" in Left field is a farce. Jeremy, take your grimmus avatar and go jump off a building.

This celebration was almost as laughable as The Yankees Not mentioning Joe Torre during the final game last year. Absolute garbage.

hype or not, mcgwire never won a ws with the cards and he doesnt even COME CLOSE to pujols talent and btw jeremey you have a new quote to add to your sig haha

done

Snotwads, what are you, 5?

Listen, the man has the most winningest record in the AL. When he's on he's on, when he's off he's off. Every team out there would love to have a #5 like wake.

Tim Wakfield not pitching is crap (but he's just lucky to have gotten to go to the AS-Game, considering "his" only remarkable stat/ if you call it that/ is "his" Win's category (108.2ip/ 11w's/ 37BB/ 61K/ 4.31ERA/ 1.38WHIP) :? :| .... Pence on the otherhand earned his way aboard, as his hustle, outlook, & statline are comparable overall with any outfielder on the team! :D
