Since cases started picking up steam in the last few weeks, prices have gone from about $75-78 per box to $95+. Does Strasburg's inclusion really make this product worth breaking for people buying in at $99 per?

I think it's still fine...not at insane prices yet. Like anything it's a gamble, but it's the type of product that has some big hit chase cards, but it also has a lot of added value, with the mini's, variations and other things set collectors go after.

Could be wrong, but from what I recall, boxes have ended up in that range much of the time in past years shortly after release. If the Strasburg hype keeps pushing them up and they are $150-175 a few weeks from now, then yeah it's probably not worth taking a shot.

wow Pujols just signed cards for 2010 Ginter, he hasn't had an auto in a year or so and hasn't had
an auto in a cheap pack of cards since 2007. very nice!

Topps show any pictures of these yet? Tony Hawk stuff looks pretty cool. I know auto checklist has some interesting names, including one of the Deadliest Catch guys.

no pics yet, but that Pujols with the red frame is going to be one hot card.

I've only done 3 or 4 boxes of this each year. Has anyone had success doing this by the case?

I already ordered 1 from my local guy but he just emailed me saying 1 more case is available at a great price (below ebay or blowout or any online site) and I'm trying to decide if I should pull the trigger.

Obviously its a gamble, but is case busting for A&G a decent return?

Whats funny is that this has been the antithesis of a chase product since it came out in 2006. Now with Stras....everybody is going to be buying to hit that longshot mini or auto. I don't get it...

See, I think what makes A&G interesting to case breakers is the fact that there is already a huge, built-in fan base for the majority of the hits in the product.

Still, I wonder how many people bought and opened 2010 Bowman solely for Strasburg. A&G may be no different.
It made no sense to me to buy a $300 Jumbo box when even if you got a base AND chrome Strasburg to sell you only made like $50 back. Sure, there were the lottery ticket hits but the Stras auto chasers probably weren't using logic at the $250 and above price point.

I really think blowout could jack up boxes to $1000 each tomorrow and there would still be buyers at that price.

Sure, its good to have attention in the hobby....but now the high prices and no new products is kind of pissing me off.

Why not cut them out? All they are doing is jacking up the price of a product that costs them the same on day 1 of release or day 200.

CONFIRMED

The A&G mini Strasburg is #351 and is NOT a rip exclusive. This will be in hobby/retail packs as a regular base mini.

Pujols had autographs in 2008 Topps.

Nice attempt to sound intelligent, though

Just got my second case.

For those of you who have busted A&G in the past (the last time I did a case was 2006), is it best to sell full base sets or is it better to list the SP's individually?

I wouldn't know which way is more profitable. But as far as Allen & Ginter goes, I must say I always enjoyed this product very much. I'm on a budget, but I've been buying 1 box per year since the product was introduced in 2006. Everything is still in my PC.

Never had much luck with hits with A&G. Nice to know there will be a Strasburg base mini, but don't think I'll sell anything this year. Pre-ordered 1 box of this before the Strasburg mania, and I'm glad I did!

New inserts look great this year, don't they ?

I have my case ordered, and ready to roll! I am going to do a set for myself, and I am keeping most of my duplicates. I will sell all hits, inserts, and minis. Would be nice to hit a couple big ones and pay for my case.

What percentage % money back would you expect to get on an *average* case ? (selling all hits, inserts, minis...)

If you sell early you can usually expect this back on a case:

Rip Card...unripped you can get 80+ for
Wood card...if you pull one expect 75+ with stars going for hundreds
3-4 autographs...looks for 40 minimum, with group A getting 150+
silk cards...again very popular..maybe 2 a case......40+
GU worst case 2 dollars per, and you will have a bunch, hit a few group A and maybe get 20-30
numbered parallel minis..another40-60 dollars with higher end getting good money
mini lot....these will sell early on...another 50-100

The great thing about ginter is you could get many, if not all of the above and do very well. While there are a
certain number of hits per box, those hits could be good ones. If you hit the right players you will be in good shape

Lots of variables so its near impossible to predict a best and worst case scenario.

Looking back at my previous sales for 2008 (or maybe 2007?) A&G, we sold our rip card for $140 and a Bruce Lee belt card for $305.

The rip cards sell much higher the first week or so, but as schmidtfan20 stated it really comes down to who you pull. Our Jeter 1/1 plate sold for $260, but our non-star 1/1 plate sold for $21.

It will be very interesting to see what the Strasburg auto and mini sell for. I think the best quote I can use for all of 2010 products and A&G in particular is this

A rising tide lifts all boats.

Yep it supposed to be live in a week, has to be shipping very very soon to wholesalers.

Still very little rock solid intel on the stuff. Other than the prices are going up and ginter madness will be everywhere next week!

The guy who I pre-ordered my boxes from said the release date has been bumped a week, to July 7th now.

Can anyone else confirm this?
