Meet Ryan Strieby. He had 29 homers with 6 weeks left in the season back in 2008 and then broke his hamate bone. Hasn't ever had 20 in a season since, and now looks more like a probable career Minor League journeyman. Just hoping someone gives him a chance in the Majors at some point so I can move some of my stuff.

So yeah, hamate break is not an easy "no big deal" injury like they seem to be saying.

That's worrisome. I believe the Cubs are so terrible at developing position players because their draftees almost always have terrible plate discipline after going through their system. Starlin Castro is only good because he has a fantastic ability to make solid contact.
