Am I overreacting? (FCB Member rant)

So last night I message a member and asked him the price on a wil myers blue ref auto he pulled. I'm very serious about buying Wil's cards and especially since Wil and I played ball over the years so I guess that fuels it some. He quoted me a price and I told him yes I will take it. Next message I get says Sorry it's sold. blah blah blah. I sent back a message saying that was pretty shatty IMO. I'm rather pissed because I'm trying to get as many myers blue ref autos as possible right now. What do you think?

Yep. with the way some buyers waffle, I think its only smart to take the money of the first person who sends. I dont know how many times i've had deals to sell something just to have that person disappear for a few weeks and then come back as if nothing happened...

I got one yesterday about the price of a card I wanted. Told him $10 delivered. They sell for around $5 before shipping online. Gave me the ::facepalm:: and told me to check out the ended auctions. I explained it was my card and that was my price. I had asked him numerous times about prices on his stuff and he was plenty high as well. Figured why sell for $5 spend $3 to ship and pocket a whole $2 in the process.

It might be different if he had responded, "It's yours!" and then two minutes later said sorry it's sold to someone else. But sounds like he didn't give you a firm answer. I would say it's your right to feel disappointed, but not screwed since it appears he was only quoting you a price. Sorry it didn't work out bud.

So since you would only net a 2$ profit you decided to post that you inflated the price higher than ebays price? And this is relevant to this topic how?

A little over reacting, but nothing crazy.

It happens on the boards here and, depending on the product/player, a lot more often then you would think.

Ive done the same thing the seller did, not to be a ****** but because the original buyer seemed non-commital.

Guy wanted a card...told him it was his for $50. Waffled on price and then talked me down to $42. Said he'd send right away. 2 hours go by and he hasn't sent. PM him and he says he will now pay later (with no definite time given).

Somebody in the mean time agrees to the $50 and pays on the spot. PM the original buyer and he is pissy. Told him that new buyer paid more and on the spot. Orignial buyer said he was at work and couldn't pay...thats why I got the run around. Never told me any of that....was just short with one word answers and was kind of shady about it after I had cut him a deal.

Maybe we should create some kind of rule to avoid a deal being reached and payment being dragged out. Dunno how...just throwing that out there.

I have been on the other end plenty of times, guys send me offers, I accept and tell others that the card is gone and
then the first person backs out. I'd like to think it was just a problem I had, but it happens quite a bit.

the topic was on a FCB rant, so I thought I'd chime in with one. Are you the FCB police now?

What I was trying to get at was when I asked him prices numerous times he was always high and I just said thanks I'll pass, he gives me a ::facepalm:: check ebay.

Unsure if your overreacting but I sold a card ('10 Gold Ackley Auto) on ebay. Quickly learned I listed my BIN at $150 less than the going rate. Then learned it was a FCB member who bought it. I still honored the transaction but boy do I wish he would of said "Can I back out?" lol

It's frustrating, sure, but if you both didn't already confirm a deal, then nothing wrong was really done. It would be different if he quoted you the price, you said "sure, what's your paypal", and he gave it to you then messaged you later and said never mind.

I think people need to equate it to a store that doesn't hold items/reservations. You phone them and they say yes, we have one left of X item for $xx If someone comes in and buys it before you get there-especially if you waffle, or have to wait another 5 hours to get off work, it's all fair game.

Overreacting? Honestly, if you're upset about a card under those circumstances, probably so. However, your frustration is totally understandable. I can understand that. Least it wasn't a super or a red, so there's plenty more out there.

Agreed. Although it may be disappointing its not the end of the world. Its not like you were attempting to buy a card #'d to 1 or 5. There are plenty of blue autos available online.
