Friend asked me yesterday if I thought yadi was hof bound to which I replied "I think so"

Now I don't follow the cardinals at all so I don't know yadi's numbers but always thought they were a lot better than they are.

Obviously his defense is awesome.

So am I missing something here?

I always Posada was borderline hof but looking at their numbers side by side, posada is heads and tails better offensively.

I've been selling Yadier Molina to everyone on Beckett/FCB since 2004. I don't have to do that anymore.

Do I think he will end up in the Hall of Fame? I hope so.

Do I think he should end up in the Hall of Fame? Of course I do.

Do I understand the arguments that he isn't worthy because of his offensive statistics? Completely.


I've already told my wife that when Yadi retires we are immediately starting a savings account for a trip to New York City, and Cooperatown so we can be at Molina's Hall of Fame Induction. I think he will get in. It probably will not be first ballot, but I think he will get in. The baseball writers aren't stupid, and they'll recognize him accordingly, he's been the most dominant catcher in all of MLB since 2005.

Yadier Molina could literally hit ZERO, and the majority of Cardinals fans would still want him behind the plate.

Look at it this way. Yadi is the Tom Brady of the Cardinals. He could behead a baby and Cardinal fans would make excuses for him.

Yadi defense is special along the lines of say Ivan Rodriguez. On the flip side Piazza was the best offensive catcher and didnt get it yet. It really depends on if defense still measures as high with voters. For me the championships matter but he needs to continue to put up good numbers to have a chance.

Posada played in a hitter's ballpark (especially batting left) and division. Put Yadi on those Yankees teams and he'd produce too. Anyway catchers are judged by their defence and handling of pitching staffs.
