The Hawks got stardom written all over them! Even if the Cavs keeps James and Orlando ,Boston resign thier key players,it just seems to me that Atlanta can still be a threat in the East for years to come.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Eastern Finals this year, they really give Boston fits.Cleveland and Orlando do better against them, but this Atlanta team worries me as a Cavs Fan. :?:

I don't know if they'll re-sign Joe Johnson after this year though. He may go for the $$$ and would be a huge loss for the team. The Hawks, with the same starting five as last year, are doing so much better this year because Josh Smith has upped his game, and now they have Jamal Crawford coming off the bench. Crawford should be considered for the 6th man of the year award. It seems like he or Joe always end up with 20 points a night. It'll be interesting to see what they do come playoff time and see if they are still playing as well as they are now.

I was kinda thinking aboutthat as I was listening to the Hawks/Bulls game.

A couple years ago they were one of the "up and coming" teams, on covers of mags, getting press.....but then it's like everyone forgot about them and that they were still young, and jumped on the Portland - then Oklahoma City bandwagon. IMO they've kinda flew under the radar (which I guess is understandable since they dont have a big superstar and there are a few great teams this year) but at this point you have to say their legit.

I think the Hawks are a great young talented team that will become a threat in the east as long as they can keep their core of young stars together, kinda like how the Bulls were a few years ago but could never seem to get over that hump. Having said that I do feel like everyone is over-rating them this year though and they won't get very far in the playoffs but 2-3 years from now they will be one of the elite teams.

Yeah, even though I'm a huge Hawks fan, I still feel that Orlando, Cleveland, and Boston are better than the Hawks are.

The Hawks are a young great team in the making. All of their young talent is starting to flourish. All I can say about the Hawks is imagine if they drafted CP3 instead of Marvin Williams. They would be down right ridunkulous as Stewart Scott would say.

As one previous poster said, imagine if they had drafted Chris Paul instead of Marvin Williams.

Or, the year after that, imagien if they had drafted Rajon Rondo instead of Shelden Williams.

The team could be COMPLETELY different.

Imagine a starting 5 of Paul, Johnson, Josh Smith, Al Horford and whoever plays center.

Or small ball it, put JJ at the 3, Smith at 4 and Horford at 5 with Crawford coming off the bench.

Too insane.

I was in Vegas during the NFL preseason, and Atlanta was 55 to1! I told my friends that is crazy, and I put $10 on it. Didn't really think they would win, but had to try for those odds! They had the same odds as the Lions in the NFL! I knew they were a really good young team, but I also know the odds are against my money.

Good bet bo!

And I'd rather have had the Hawks draft Shelden's Girlfriend (Candace Parker) than him!!

But, will they be able to re-sign JJ?
