I agree it was too cramped! Plus I didn't know where stuff was like I usually do when it's at the Metrodome. They don't change the layout there, so I knew where anyting I wanted to see, was. At last year's it took me awhile to get my bearings, and even then I still was forgetting stuff. The Dome should be completed in August so February should not be a problem--unless we get another catastrophic snow again!

I never take a lot of money to Twinsfest because I don't go for big ticket items. I plan ahead my autograph wants, so I have enough for those, and I always try to buy some wax along the way, but I don't buy GU stuff, or jerseys or anything like that. I enjoy the experience as much as anything else. Plus I spend enough time in auto lines that I save money that way, too.

How much do you normally spend on autos if you spend most of the time waiting in lines? That's what I'd do next year if I go, definitely wouldn't get any GU stuff

I think last year I spent about 150 in the auto lines, that was just one night, but me and a friend were able to hit multiple lines at the same time, which if I was solo, I might not have been able to hit some of those other lines. In reality, it all depends what and who you go for. Prospect are free, then they have the older Twins with some lesser name guys for $10, then you have your mid-tier group of guys for $15, then your big dogs solo for $10, your HOFers for $25+

Best advise I can give is look at last years schedule with prices attached to it, and go from there in planning and budgeting. I think either Greg Cleveland or myself posted a link to the schedule with those prices somewhere in this thread, or if there was a Twinsfest thread, its in there.

Last year was my 2nd time going and I think I spent about 150 on Auto's and maybe about $20 on some cards that I needed. Also left the last day with a box of Bowman Chrome for $40. I think that was a good price for me so I will probably shoot for around the same this year. Musial Collector pretty much hit the nail on the head for prices. About $15 for mid-tier players and $25 for the HOF's. Bigger stars seemed to be about $20-$30.

I'd probably want to do that if other people are going of the multiple lines if you're getting something signed for someone else

I've been to twinsfest probably 10 or so times, and I've never waited in line to get an auto before. I might have to change that this year. Normally browse to see what available, and just chat with people passionate about the hobby and game.

Yep. Mauer, Morneau, Thome, Carew, Molitor and Thome were the $25. guys lat year. Killer always was, too. Oliva, Hrbek, Cuddy, Nathan, seem to be the next tier guys--$15-20, usually paired up with someone else. Bert was a $20-15 guy for years, but he'll always be $25 from now on. Getting the current/former guys/coaches for $10-15/table with 3-4 guys there is always a good deal. Can't beat getting the prospects for free but the days of getting Revere for free are long gone. He'll be in a $10 line though, so it's not that bad. I spent time in line for Thome last year Friday night so that took up a lot of that evening. If you want the big names, you play the waiitng game. Or go in tandem with someone who's willing to hold your spot while you're out getting other autos and switch back with you when you return.

It's also nice that there are other autos to get--Black Aces always have had Fergie Jenkins, Mudcat Grant, Vida Blue, folks like that. Rollie Fingers, Phil Niekro and George Foster have been at their table in the past, too. Bob Feller always came up and had a table to plug his museum. Didn't see if the Museum had a table last year without him, but I heard it was there--somewhere.

Just get it back in the Dome so there's room to move and I know where things are, and I'll be happy to come for a couple of days and spend some money! I'm easy to please!

It was right by the entrance to the prospects area. I got an 8x10 of Hellickson.

Here is the 2011 schedule and prices, like I said, gauge it based off of this, much isnt going to change in the way of prices for the players noted.

Anybody going to the Kubel Fan HQ signing on 7/16? Stopped in yesterday and they said they only had about 40 tickets left, so I grabbed one. Was thinking of getting a pic of him signed as that will be my main focus I think for TwinsFest this year, but I'm deciding to get a BP ball that was hit by him signed.

I don't bother with big ticket autographs like Mauer and Morneau, and I met Mauer before he was big so it isn't too big a deal to me. I don't have his auto though. Too much other stuff to do. Last year, we went on Day 2, and the Mauer line stretched half a mile. The reason I tossed such a high number is for game used stuff. Any money left over from TF will go to displays and framing (if I have any left over).

Even though it was cramped, it was also nice that I didn't have to run 3 miles to get to the next autograph station in time. I ran in, literally, bought a mini helmet, a silver sharpie, and ran to the Perk line, then darted to the Knudson line.

What sucked was the Gophers couldn't run a table that year. I wanted to talk to one of their players and there wasn't a table (as far as I saw), then he got drafted, and signed.

I was able to get the 3 players I came to see, Perk, Knudson, and Neshek, along with many others I tossed in there (and Al Franken).

How much are they? I might be down for a very large ticket stub, or a RC.

I would get him on the BP ball personally, and do the Photos later.

Better that you go now instead of waiting for Twinsfest, Kubel is a free agent after this season, may not be here next year.

Yeah and I was pretty upset that I missed out on the Cuddyer signing so I wanted to grab Kubel while I still could.

Back in the day, we'd set up a meeting at Hubert's--the one next to the dome--on Friday afternoon and meet and eat before going in. We'd get lots of folks saying "I'll be there!" and it would end up being me, Craig, Raymond, Bo, Chris, later on Alex (UMich92) or some combination thereof. Sometimes Dan Aliperto (Ideal24) would swing by, but we'd meet on Friday afternoon before it opened and that can be hard to get away from work or travel or whatever for some. If it's back in the Dome for 2012, I suspect we'd try to meet up at Hubert's again. Decent place to eat before going in so I won't have to pay $5 for a slice of pizza.

That's cool Greg!

We usually just head straight to the Dome. Usually in just after opening, and out, sometime after they close.

I hate the food prices but I love the dogs... usually hit up a MacD's or some other fast food after we leave.
