I saw the wire, I know he was cut for Marquis. But why Hughes ? Why not Burroughs ? Or someone else. That's just foolish to cut Hughes.

It pisses me off, because nobody knows what they're doing in the organization, from top to bottom. This years draft is HUGE and if they blunder it, the Twins will sit at the bottom of the AL Central just like they did throughout the 70's and 80's (although they were in the AL West then).

I agree. I would love to have Appel but I see him going #1 to Houston. There are other intriguing guys out there but we absolutely NEED to get pitching in the organization. I feel like we are set in the OF (Benson, Hicks, Arcia, Morales) and IF (Sano, Rosario, Dozier, Michael). As much as it hurts to say, our top pitching prospects aren't going to be anything more than potential #3 starters. I miss the days of having Johan as our #1..

Me too. Santana was a beast when he was with the Twins, and what did they end up getting for him? Carlos Gomez. I can't remember, but does anybody have what the Johan deal got us in the end? Who is on the Twins right now because of the trade?

After Gomez didn't pan out I think everybody was beyond pissed with that deal, but I look at it a couple different ways.

1) The reported offers from Boston (Jon Lester or Jacoby Ellsbury) and New York (Phil Hughes) were never confirmed as actual offers, only rumors. Obviously if they were actual offers then we are beyond stupid for taking the Mets offer.
2) If the offers from Boston and New York were never on the table then one could argue that we got the better end of the deal with the Mets based on the fact that we didn't overpay for Santana since he has been injured ever since.
3) Although Deolis Guerra likely won't become the ace that we had hoped, he is off to a great start to the season out of the New Britain bullpen and could be a potential closer option (the kid just turned 23 years old a couple days ago). http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=P&sid=t538&t=p_pbp&pid=500610

Is Gioloto off the board at #2 with his elbow injury, or is it still going to be Appel as #1 and him as #2

Happens to me with cropping and then saving some copies or replacing originals that it doesn't always link to your latest copy
