So today I was able to meet Andre Dawson, Logan Morrison, John Buck, and Jeff Conine! Got to ask a few questions for my first MLB Blog, as well as take a few pictures, get autographs, and this very awesome moment.... LoMo gave me the jersey that he was wearing and signed it for me.... totally awesome and the highlight of my deployment out here in the desert!!! The first picture is me w/ all of the guys and Mr. Samson (President of the Marlins). The 2nd picture is from Logan's Twitter page.

Hey guys, the signing was in Bahrain during the Marlins visit with the troops trip yesterday. They also hung out and watched the Super Bowl last night on the base here. Somebody asked about Sharktits... I asked him about that during my meet n greet session yesterday and he said it came from his first game against the Phillies. The fans started calling him that in the OF and it stuck from that point on. As far as him working in the LCS there in Miami, I did know that from his bio and an article that had been written about him once. Don't think he'll have much time anymore since he'll be in the everyday line-up this year. Conine was very cool as well. All of the guys were great. We had a great time and I was able to spend extra time after the signing with the guys in private thanks to their marketing manager, whom I had known for awhile. I was able to talk to Andre and will have my interview w/ him posted on March 1st on my MLBlog. John Buck and Mr. Samson were also wonderful. All around a great memory and experience. Coolest thing is that I have an offer to be able to throw out a first pitch when I get back stateside. And for those who follow LoMo on Twitter, you've probably seen him and I talking back and forth on occasion. I have been following him since the minors, so for him to give me his jersey he was wearing and sign it, was just a huge surprise and honor. Great moment. Makes these deployments out here fun...

I'd be glad to send you a PM about future free signing, but warning, you will first need to join the military, go through 2 years of special ops/flight training, and then deploy with me to the suck... (7 years in, 3rd deployment to the desert). Next signing will be a visit from the Green Bay Packers in 2 weeks. They were already scheduled to be here, but now they'll be coming as the Super Bowl Champs! Determined to get my picture wearing the ring!

That's very cool, and what's ironic for me is that my friend Scott Sneden also lives in Jacksonville, also is in our hobby and is there on deployment in Bahrain with you (he's coming home this week), we were chatting via FB and he told me about the guys, meeting them and how cool and down to earth they all were.
Small world, I wonder if you two know each other?
Joe

Congrats, that's really cool. I saw the picture on his Twitter and recognized your name.

I too have followed LoMo through the Minors, but he quickly became one of my favorite players once he made it to the Marlins and I could watch him every day. Seems like a really good guy too, down to earth and real appreciative of his fan support.

HaHa Jeff, I was just going to let it slide. I figured whoever it was just looked at the picture and really didn't read what I wrote. Judging by the spelling, reading might not be one of his strong points. jk...

All_The_Hype... he really is down to earth and a great kid. He was having a great time out here with all the troops and sailors. He should make an immediate impact this season as an everyday player. He said he worked on his strength during the off season and really wants to help the team win.

Good to hear, I was able to watch (at least part of) most of his games last year and I got the impression that he just plays the game the right way by hustling, running out ground balls, etc. And he can flat out hit. I'd love to see him flash the power a little more this year, but regardless I bet he'll hit about .320 this season. They have a nice core of young players, I hope they can make some noise this year in the NL East.
