Makes me remember the time on Beckett when I got ripped off for a Dawson auto during a trade. The guy made excuse after excuse and never sent his end. Then, he stopped posting altogether. :(
Sorry to hear that Andrew, but I can guarantee it wasn't me. :D

Congrats to Dawson, I like most others don't see how Blyleven isn't in yet. Also thought Mcgriff would get more votes.

I am so elated you have no idea!
My wife knows how long I've been waiting for this day to come and she asked me when we need to start planning our trip to Cooperstown!
I had to go home to grab my Dawson Expos jersey to wear into the office! I would have worn my Cubs ones, but they are all signed. I am going to post pics later tonight of some of my stuff.

What I'm curious to see now is how many cards get listed in the next few days that
I was outbid on earlier this year.

I know he took me by surprise... I figured he would get in, but not the first time. Figured Alomar and maybe Blyleven would get in first. So "the hawk" ended up costing me some money as I was not prepared for his entrance. I did pick up a couple of PSA/DNA baseballs (one with just an auto, and one with "The Hawk" inscription) as well as an on the card pack certified auto for my PC shortly after the results. Ebay was going crazy! I would look at a card and before I finished reading the description they were sold! ::facepalm::

Several BINs from my watchlist were hit by others, and several more were revised with higher prices.

why has it took him so long to get in?? Why is he a Hall Of Famer in 2010 rather then 5-6 years ago. I don't understand the hall of fame.

This.

Same with Alomar. Say what you want, but the guy was the premier 2B of that time. 11 straight AS Games, 10 gold gloves. He could hit for average, drive runs in, steal bases. He also won 2 world series. I live in Toronto and IMO he was BY FAR the best all around position player we have ever had. And I never even liked the guy!

So why is he a HOFer next year but not this year.

They should make this a fan ballot. Well maybe not but the whole notion that sportswriters (who are not unbiased parties IMO) decide whether a guy merits being there is crap!

Kevin Appier 1 (0.2%), Pat Hentgen 1 (0.2%), David Segui 1 (0.2%)

These voters need to be slapped.

Kevin Appier was statistcally the 3rd best starter in MLB from 1990 - 1997 behind some guys named Maddux and Clemens. It really isn't a stretch that someone voted for him. Actually, I am surprised he didn't get a few more votes.

Often voters don't vote with the Hall in mind. They vote in order to make a point. Many won't vote a player in on the 1st ballot because 1st ballot HOFers are the best of the best HOFers. They also give votes to players that no way in hell would ever make the Hall just to honor the player.

Either reason is valid for someone to cast a vote or not.

MLB Network mentioned that Marty Noble has gone on record as not voting for Alomar for one year as a punishment for the spitting incident. I wonder how many others are following suit without publicly saying so.

Congrats to Dawson.

I still have a soft spot hoping Dale Murphy would get more love, but he's done.

Hmm.....interesting considering most people say the HOF does nothing for prices since people already build it in ahead of time.

Many voters didn't vote for Alomar, because the old guard believes that no one should enter on the first ballot. It goes back to when Joe D didn't get in on the first ballot.

Players like Segui, and Appier get a vote or is because when they were playing they got to know some of the sportswriters very well. Probably the local writers. It is basically a gentlemens agreement for the sportswriter to vote for them so they can tell their grandchildren they got a HOF vote.

There was a player that is thought to have abused this little gentleman's agreement by getting enough writers to vote for him. Look up the stats for Ray Schalk.

There is always a temporary spike. They'll come back down. People with fairly common auto/GU should dump them now and then buy them back in two weeks.

There are some absolutely STUPID prices being paid right now. Like 5-10 times what I paid for most of my cards.

I'm laughing my ass off at these people every time I look at completed items today.
