the Islanders Andy Sutton was suspended 2 games for his hit on Dupuis last night. I think that is a little light and he probably should have received 3 or 5 games.

of course I may be being biased what do you guys think?

I think 2 games is fine. I dont think it was intentional or any malice behind the hit. But what do I know and I am an Islander fan.

So one Pens fan weighs in...one Isles fan weighs in...

...I'll be the voice of reason... :)

Seems to me there was not really any intent to injury on the play. Yes, it's still a hit from behind and action need to have been taken.

If it was determined he intended to injury, I fully agree it should be more...but in this case, I think two is fine.

Regardless, I'm glad the NHL did something about it as they need to send a message that these kinds of hits are NOT acceptable.

I agree. Definitely suspendable as you want players aware of punishment for being recklessly dangerous with hits. 2 is just right as Sutton does not have a history of this.

With Sutton's history I don't see even the need for a suspension there was no match penalty or intent to injure, but I guess the league has to send a message regardless of intent. He didn't intend to have that happen but he can't take it back either.

One of the uglier outcomes from a hit I've seen in a while the blood pool was quick and thick. Made me queezy!

ok I agree he doesn't have a history of offenses so I guess 2 games is fair but he definitely didn't need to hit him that hard when his back was turned. a simple check would have been fine or maybe a harder hit but from the side. oh well I am just glad Dupers is fine and hopefully he will play tonight or at least Sunday.
