Prospect Salome back from personal issues

MIAMI -- Brewers catching prospect Angel Salome is back in action after a hiatus of nearly six weeks during which he addressed some personal problems.

Salome was reinstated from Triple-A Nashville's disabled list on Tuesday, and instead of returning to Nashville, he was assigned to Double-A Huntsville. The catcher has not played since April 17, when he left to attend the birth of a child and never returned. Brewers officials later said Salome needed a break from baseball to deal with mental issues, and he had been working out at the team's extended spring training program in Phoenix.

"We just want him to get started [at Huntsville] because he hasn't played in a while," Melvin said. "Let him play there for a while. He and [Huntsville manager] Mike Guerrero have a past, an understanding. [Salome] said he was fine with that."

Salome could remain at Huntsville for a couple of weeks before a promotion to Nashville. His hiatus probably cost Salome a promotion to the Major Leagues on May 21, when the Brewers instead called up Jonathan Lucroy to replace an injured Gregg Zaun.

MLB.com says Angel Salome doesn't want to catch any more. Not sure where you put a 5-7, 200-lb guy with 20 speed, but apparently it's the OF
